    The Nineties

It was The Best of Times and The Worst of Times for comics.

Amidst the explosive piles of unreadable material that fills the back rooms and bins of comic shops and basements around the world, what hidden gems were there amidst all the Big Guns, straps, shoulder pads, trenchcoats and impossible anatomy?

I was a big fan of Quantum and Woody from Acclaim/Valiant 2, and I'm still hoping that the rights can be resolved so that Christopher Priest and Mark Bright can still get back and finish their final storyline. Particularly since they flashed forward a year and introduced some interesting mysteries before they pulled the plug.

I also enjoyed James Robinson's Firearm from Malibu's Utraverse. About a guy who investigates superheroes.

Wasn't it Morrison that Wrote the Re-Formed JLA Series at 1st... Where the JLA were taking on the Aliens Race ,.. Kinda like the series formation of the Justice League Cartoon ?. Batman, WW, Supes , Flash , Kyle & ManHunter. Now that was a Fantastic Series when the team 1st Relaunched.

McFarlane's Run on Spider-man ,.. particularly the Lizard Arc ..., & then His Spawn Book, was great for me.

The Kubert Bro's on Batman vs Predator. I loved that book.

Big, Big fan of the Gen -13 Books as well as Team - 7. The 3 Series arcs of Team- 7 was just a Great read. I also liked Booth's Kindred series,.. & His BackLash book.

Platt's Soul Saga Had a Great Start,.. & great Lead-up Vision,.. it is a Pitty that's all the Book Had.

The Malibu books... Is that the company that had the Prime Tittle Drawn by BreyFrogle ? ... I tried very hard to get into that book, However Could not,.. Sorry Norm.

The first thing that comes to Mind is Jim Lee's X-MEN Run! For me...Comics didn't get any better than that! From Uncanny to the launch of X-Men #1...it brought the FUN back to Comics!

Gen 13 was good when Ed Bennes took over(not a Fan of Campbell).

I aso enjoyed the Kubert on Batman vs Predator. Great Art!

                        Couldn't agree more.

I really enjoyed Chuck Dixon's run on the Batman titles, Detective, Robin, Nightwing, and Birds of Prey. They had a good thing going there for quite a while. The Superman titles were also quite good up through the end of Reign of the Supermen at least. Sure it was crossover gimmickry, but all 4 books were interconnected anyway, so if you were buying one you were buying all 4 to begin with.

Yup! I just wish they were more solid and even through all 4 books....I liked the Cyborg Superman and Superboy the best of the bunch....Steel was ok but I didn't like the Eradicator at all...

                            Hmmmm....

Y'know; I don't think anything good came out of the 90's. It was the decade of designer comics, fads, multiple covers and non-events. And repetition. If you weren't Image then you were doing an Image ripoff. Unless you were WAY underground, in which case half your repitoire was Image rips, the other half bad Japanese rips. Seemed like we LOST everything good that had been done in the prior 20 years.
