It's unfortunate that Marvel hasn't ever been able to develop the Surfer into a sustainable solo character in the same manner as they have GL. Not surprising since it's harder to relate to the SS in the same way you could with Alan, Hal, Kyle or any of the other men who have worn the ring. SS seems to work better as a supporting player or short minis/graphic novels like the original Lee/Buscema GN, the two issue Moebius run or the most recent JMS storyline.

It's nowhere near as good as the Rebirth/Sinestro War/Blackest Knight cycle going on in Green Lantern, but Marvel did up their game with Annihilation in terms of "cosmic" sagas. Particularly since it made some compelling revamps to z-list characters.

The Silver Surfer really hasn't worked well since the days of Stan Lee and John Buscema IMO...

The closest thing Marvel has to the GLC is the Nova Corp.
        Hey! Check out the pictures.

I felt awkward bringing up SILVER SURFER in my last post cause this a GL
thread after all---but heck---I'll do it again ----SILVER SURFER is
like the BOBA FETT of the MARVEL U---it was his "look" that caught
Stan Lee's fancy just like Fett's attracted the SW fans.

I can't see it being an easy character to write for.

The only reason I brought up SS in comparison to GL is that they
have these ultra-abilities that take them around the galaxy instead of
          being stuck on Earth.

It's cool GL is finally getting his own (animated) movie---if it's
anywhere near as good as the WONDER WOMAN one I just saw,
it should be great! (I thought the WW one was perfect)

Anyone reading Green Lantern Corps these days? I haven't really been following since the Dave Gibbons issues. I guess I should start reading the Blackest Night tie ins.

What do you guys think is the difference between Marvel "Cosmic" and DC "Cosmic"?

Prior to Annihilation, I always thought of Starlin's seventies stuff when it came to Marvel. I would imagine his current DC stuff must have a similar vibe.

I'm really surprised that no one has really followed up too much on all the interesting aspects brought forth from Morrison and Co's 52 Space Saga with Animal Man, Starfire and Adam Strange.

^ Starlin's DC stuff seems outdated to me....and I think he has touched on some of the stuff that was began in "52" with A-Man, Starfire, Adam Strange. In fact, there was a recent Adam Strange Special that Starlin was responsible for that was supposed to tie-in to his new direction for Hawkman. Not sure if that's still the plan though....
