^ Starlin's DC stuff seems outdated to me....and I think he has touched on some of the stuff that was began in "52" with A-Man, Starfire, Adam Strange. In fact, there was a recent Adam Strange Special that Starlin was responsible for that was supposed to tie-in to his new direction for Hawkman. Not sure if that's still the plan though....Leave a comment:

What do you guys think is the difference between Marvel "Cosmic" and DC "Cosmic"?
Prior to Annihilation, I always thought of Starlin's seventies stuff when it came to Marvel. I would imagine his current DC stuff must have a similar vibe.
I'm really surprised that no one has really followed up too much on all the interesting aspects brought forth from Morrison and Co's 52 Space Saga with Animal Man, Starfire and Adam Strange.Leave a comment:

I have been,.. Pretty Faithfully Since the Sinestro's Corps.
It's just as Fantastic for me,.. As The Green Lantern Book.
Some Major Stuff Going on...
Like Kyle & Guy moving to OA,..
Mongul Has like 4 Sinestro Corp's rings,... & Think's that he is now incharge of the Sinestro Corps... Sinestro has yet to show up for a confrontation..
Kyle & the Chick from Krugar,.. I forget her name.... are now Romanticly Involved... even with the 2nd Law that was written... something's going to happen there...
The Alpha Lantern stuff is pretty cool too...
& Hue,.. Boba Fett is & was nothing more than Just a StormTrooper Clone... Sufer is not a clone of anything...

Anyone reading Green Lantern Corps these days? I haven't really been following since the Dave Gibbons issues. I guess I should start reading the Blackest Night tie ins.Leave a comment:

I felt awkward bringing up SILVER SURFER in my last post cause this a GL
thread after all---but heck---I'll do it again ----SILVER SURFER is
like the BOBA FETT of the MARVEL U---it was his "look" that caught
Stan Lee's fancy just like Fett's attracted the SW fans.
I can't see it being an easy character to write for.
The only reason I brought up SS in comparison to GL is that they
have these ultra-abilities that take them around the galaxy instead of
being stuck on Earth.
It's cool GL is finally getting his own (animated) movie---if it's
anywhere near as good as the WONDER WOMAN one I just saw,
it should be great! (I thought the WW one was perfect)Leave a comment:

The Silver Surfer really hasn't worked well since the days of Stan Lee and John Buscema IMO...Leave a comment:

It's unfortunate that Marvel hasn't ever been able to develop the Surfer into a sustainable solo character in the same manner as they have GL. Not surprising since it's harder to relate to the SS in the same way you could with Alan, Hal, Kyle or any of the other men who have worn the ring. SS seems to work better as a supporting player or short minis/graphic novels like the original Lee/Buscema GN, the two issue Moebius run or the most recent JMS storyline.
It's nowhere near as good as the Rebirth/Sinestro War/Blackest Knight cycle going on in Green Lantern, but Marvel did up their game with Annihilation in terms of "cosmic" sagas. Particularly since it made some compelling revamps to z-list characters.Leave a comment:

Surfer's a Flipp'in Slave.
Hal Jordan is the Ultimate Space Cop, with a Whole Corps or Police that inforce law & help protect the Universe. Hal Also Pull's a Massive amount of Whowee ,.. His ring can project whatever he thinks out of it.
Winner } The Green Lantern.
BTW....
Hal can Fly 2 F-15's Fighter Jets at the same time,.. While Having Sex in Mid Air with a Beautiful Woman. I seriously Doubt Surfer can even Pull that off.Last edited by BlackKnight; Apr 13, '09, 12:40 AM.Leave a comment:

As far as the "What does Marvel have to rival GL" debate...
as far as simillar characters, I always thought the surfboard-weilding
SILVER SURFER had a simillar quality to GL---they even teamed them up
together ina TPB (that I never read) that looked real cool---
I DO have to agree that the whole origin of GL akin to the one
copied by THE GREATEST AMERICAN HERO was pretty cool and a a more relatable origin than a herald for a planet-eater.Leave a comment:

Just read the latest issue. It's amazing how each issue keeps ratcheting up the stakes as each of the colour lanterns are introduced. Nice to see the Controllers back. What ever happened to the Darkstars?Leave a comment:
