I also think it's neat how the "crack" in Jesse's Liberty Belle symbol also evokes a lightning bolt. Not sure if it's on purpose, but it is a nice nod to her ties with the Flash extended family.

You called Nekron, so I'll put my money here as well. Any Lotto numbers for me?

It would be interesting to see Zoom's life story from his POV in some kind of linear fashion ala Mark Waid's Life Story of the Flash, given that the nature of his time traveling might actually make some kind of sense to him as opposed to the random encounters across a few decades. There might actually be some kind of grand scheme behind all the stalking and toying around with Barry he does.

I think it was Mark Millar's Authority that showed us just how scary a time traveling villain actually is, as in mid-battle with The Engineer, the evil Doctor goes back in time and molests here as a kid just to throw her off her game when he comes back and she recognizes him. That's messed up!

So Zoom knows the most important moments of Barry's life and has always showed up to twist the knife somehow.

I'm actually hoping Johns can eventually make sense of the Boomerang and Boomerang Jr. Particularly since Time Paradoxes (and possibly Bart's mom, a Thawne) are involved here as well.

The latest issue did pickup the storyline a great deal, and I'm really still hoping that Barry will lighten up after all this is over. I really, really want to see Barry & Iris back as a solid married couple in the DCU. I guess this whole thing will lead into Blackest Night : Flash in December, with art by (ugh!) Scott Kolins (a huge letdown after Van Sciver!). DC has announced a Flash ongoing as well as a Kid Flash ongonig for the spring. Guess that explains why Max Mercury gets out alive, hoping they can still save poor Johnny Quick, a decent fellow who gets shafted here. Ok, the secret formula stuff is a little bit of 1940S goofiness, but hey, it's no different than saying "Shazam!".

yeah, this series had left me a little cold, too, until the latest issue.

I always liked Barry because of the villains, but Flash (Barry or Wally) never really did it for me even as a kid. I always liked Jay better in the JSA.

But Johns has a way of bringing the best out of characters. I'm looking forward to the regular series.

    Ok,

    After a 2 Month Delay..., I just read Flash : ReBirth #4 ..
I was previously Down on this Series,.. Just thought it was too Slow,.. & Nothing Was really going On, Other than Just some Endless Lead Up in Plot & Allen Repeatidly Questioning His New Found Exsistance in Time....

Well Flash #4 Was Off the Hook !

How does expanding the series by an issue get things moving faster? Sounds like its going to be dragged out even longer.

Don't even get me started on Inertia! He's the "Jethro".

What will be most interesting to me in bringing back Eobard Thawne is all the stuff that has been revealed over the years regarding the Thawne lineage.

In some ways, perhaps Thawne needed to create this paradox in order to create the very circumstances which led to the creation of The Reverse Flash. Does her murder somehow tie into Barry's Evil Twin Brother the original Cobalt Blue (and the "first" Thawne) maybe? That would make Barry's mom his ancestor.

Also keep in mind that Bart Allen is probably a descendent of Eobard. Which might explain Bart's interesting tie to the speed force, since he not only got the "Speed Gene" from his father, but Melonie Thawne probably also has a recessive "Speed Gene" from Eobard.

And I be wrong ZOOM! The original Professor Zoom, the Reverse-Flash is back! Nicely played by Johns! A time-traveller makes more sense being the culprit behind Nora Allen's death and creates an interesting time loop paradox.....

Barry becomes a police scientist trying to prove his father's innocence in his mother's murder. While in his lab, he's struck by lightning and becomes The Flash. Inspires Eobard Thawne of the 25th Century who becomes the villain The Reverse Flash....who goes back in time to murder Nora Allen (as revenge for Barry murdering him years later).

    Brilliant!
