    Flash:Rebirth thoughts

I just read this tonight and have mixed feelings.

I didn't read a single page of Final Crisis, so I'm in the dark about Barry's return. I was hoping it didn't matter to read this title. It really didn't. The mood was kind of somber and serious for the opening. There was no joy in any of it. Maybe this is what Johns has in mind to build momentum, so I'll stay with this.

The artwork is fantastic as it is always with Van Sciver. He had almost a year in advance to work on this and it shows. He's one of the best in the field without doubt.

I see some promise with this title. I was never a huge fan of Flash solo, but always liked him in JLA. This may bring me into the Flash universe for good. I have faith that Johns and team will make this an event and something to look forward to each month.

I was really looking forward to this book and I wasn't disappointed.

Barry Allen back as the Flash, Bart back as Kid Flash. Wally was a great Flash too, and I enjoyed that run of the series- up to the point with the kids, where it jumped not only the shark, but Sea World as well. I'm glad to see that go on the backburner. Looking forward to more of Jay Garrick as well. I really like how Jay gets respect from just about everybody he meets, that's nice.

Guessing Barry is gonna re-enter the police force as a CSI. Funny how that's such a cool profession now when back in the day it was somewhat thought of as being a nerdy lab guy. And Hal Jordan had the cool test pilot job, which ain't such a big deal anymore.

Great art on the series, and I agree the book was a bit down, but hopefully that will pick up by the end of the mini before the ongoing starts. Above all, the Flash should be a fun book, a rollercoaster ride.

Hoping Barry finds a way to get Johnny Quick & Max Mercury out of the Speed Force intact too. Then he can get started on reviving Ralph & Sue Dibny.

I see Iris is looking younger as well- for awhile there in the Wally series she was being drawn as an older grandmother type, when in fact she should be of that same late 20s early 30s range like the rest of the JLA members and their significant others. She's from the future anyway, surely they have level 12 Botox there!

Nope it didn't matter...and even if you had read Final Crisis, you still wouldn't be able to make sense of it!

Anyways..., I am waiting for my copy..
I think Morrison tried to Steal the Thunder of this book,.. by even throwing Barry in Crisis to begin with.

Considering it's the Flash....he was probably trying to steal the Lightning and not the thunder

What I wish they would have covered a bit was the return of Bart. How did he come back and why is he young again? You notice that his eyes had the lightning effect when he was talking early? Something is going on there I think. He was always such a big fan of Barry, now it's like he's ticked that he is back. Something is not right. Guess we'll wait and see. Otherwise, I really liked it. I have read Flash off and on for years, including the Barry years. Does anyone know what Dr Alchemy was talking about when he said "do you remember what I did to her?"

Considering that Morrison and Johns have working together to shape the DCU since 52 (the series 52, not the year 1952), I doubt that Morrison was trying to big time Johns by bringing Barry back in Final Crisis. Barry's inclusion in FC was all about symetry and trying to put an end to the Crisis franchise. The original Crisis killed Barry. Final Crisis brought Barry back.

I read in a Flash Rebirth review at CBR that the return of Bart is in FC; Legion of Three Worlds. Hopefully we'll get to see that finished soon.

Didio just said there would be two issues of Legion 3 worlds in April then a TWO MONTH WAIT until the last issue in June. Ridiculous.

And I may be wrong here, but I think the "lightning in the eyes" effect is going to be an identifier for speedsters with the book, similar to the "floating" Green Lantern chest symbols in the Gl books.

The symmetry conclusion is probably true for the Crisis books...I just didn't feel Barry's return was explained very well, but I'm thinking maybe Johns is going to delve deep into it in this series, so maybe that's why it was vague in Crisis.

Legion of 3 Worlds is a 5-issue mini...only one isue is in April (#4)....the last issue (#5) hits in June...I'm sure this is all on Perez' shoulders considering his speed plus the detail he's put into the book and the large cast...but they should've had everything in the can before soliciting....

You are correct...I misread the quote. #4 in April, #5 in June.

I need to pick this up, because I love the Flash, and really enjoyed Rebirth. But part of me just thinks this is wrong. Wally was fleshed out so well by Waids and Johns. And Barry being the patron saint of the DCU WORKED. It's the only thing from Crisis that stuck, and now it's undone.

I've already told My local Comic Shop to add it to my list! Being an oldtimer...I'm very happy Barry Allen is BACK! But don't fret Fans of Wally...DC has already said he'll still be around.
