Blackest Night spoiler (2nd wave of figures)

Found this spoiler on the DC Direct Boards.

Thought others might like to see it. But it's sort of a spoiler so don't look if you don't want to.

Johns is normally a can't miss writer for me, but I'm not so sure about the Black Lanterns. It looks like DC' version of Marvel vs. Zombies.

So...when did Earth 2 Sups become an evil Zombie looking thing? What did I miss?
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Now I like Marvel Zombies,.. Well the 1st story,.. I thought it was a Great Horror Story, that was just Twisted,.. & Made for a Good unique Read.

I personally think that the Idea with these Black Hand Zombies is a Better Plot ,.. & Story,.. ( with the Exception of them Obviously Just Killing ManHunter & Perhaps Bruce for this story) then Just Slapping together a Book of a Zombie World from a Different Demention.

BTW... I hope they bring Back Ted & Ronny Raymond for the Story.

Look, I can buy strange visitors from other planets, super-scientific weapons and such, but I draw the line at zombies! I can't stand zombies! All except Solomon Grundy. He's kinda cute, in a moss-ridden, maggoty way.

No, I'm sure it'll all work out to be fun and Johns has been setting this up since GL Rebirth. But, other than Sean of the Dead, Zombies are kinda lost on me.

They're only zombies if they're undead AND they feast on flesh, I think....the Black Lanterns are just re-animated corpses (no eating allowed)

Great! My childhood heroes aren't only dead, now they're rotting guys with a fetish for black spandex.

I like Johns normally, but this doesn't entice me in the least.

Poor Earth 2 Supes...the original Super Hero deserves better.

I just don't get the whole zombies thing...I thought the Marvel version was disgusting, but obviously people love it enough for there to be sequels & figures & crossovers. I do wish I'd have bought the stack of first printings of #1s that were at the shop the day it came out, nice vacation I could be taking on those. But as for why the zombie comic thing has hung on for a few years now I don't get. Basically they shamble, attack, and eat you, then you do the same. Meanwhile the heroes/victims fight back to no avail, then run away and hide. Doesn't seem like a concept that could support so many mini-series from so many companies. I liked the old Tales of the Zombie b/w comic from Marvel in the '70s. He wasn't a hungry zombie though.
Speaking of which- when did it become fact that zombies want to eat your brains? Weren't they just re-animated corpses sent to do somebody's evil bidding like slaves?

We probably have George Romero to thank for that....

I'm hoping that by the end of this arc, everyone is put back nice and clean in their proper resting places. Hopefully the "hero" Black Lanterns will have a little spark of that heroism still left deep down inside and are able to shake this thing off.

And I'm sure some Black Lanterns like J'onn J'onzz and Aquaman will be restored to life and their former glory somewhere down the road. After Johns is done working his magic on Flash:Rebirth I can see him tackling a similar rebirth on ol' Arthur Curry. At this point, I think he's the only one who CAN make Aquaman cool again after many years of mishandling.

I dunno if that is even Possible,.. ever. Unless your a comicbook Geek,.. or are into this stuff,.. The rest of the real world just thinks Aquaman is Lame. My Brother & I were Actually Arguing about the Coolness of Aquaman Last night,.. he's Not buying.

It doesn't matter what the outside world thinks. They aren't buying comics. After Dark Knight raked in 1 billion at the box office, they still aren't buying comics.

Put Aquaman in his classic duds, with both hands, put Johns on writing, Van Sciver on art, and it will sell. I'll buy it.

If it works out that way, then it will be worth it. I was expecting much more out of Infinite Crisis though, and got really disappointed. The promise of the return of the real DC multiverse was there, and it was a wasted opportunity to not bring it back. The new one is more convoluted and confusing than it's predecessor by a long shot.

It's the only time Johns really disappointed me.
