Just don't go too big,.. like Balent did with that weirdo Tariot or Whatever book... When SuperHero Chicks are running around fighting Villianess Chicks & Both of them Have like Tripple M Boobies,.. it just seems alittle far fetched that they are not using them as weapons.

I don't think they could do it though....they don't have it in them anymore to tell stories that are "non-events'.
Yup!!! I'd like for once in this decade see them NOT do an event and go back to classic storytelling no tie ins and stay away from the Hired gun big name writer and artists no wonder books are so damn high in price.

I'm disgusted with the 3.99 price to pay off Frank Millers i don't give a **** about Batman attitude. Give the books to good writers and storytellers and drop those prices. I don't need my books to look like mini magazines....I want them to look and smell like comic books......

            >just maybe one or two part stories,

What the writers don't seem to get is that those one or two part stories ARE continuity! They happen, they're there, you can draw from 'em, etc.

            >I don't think they could do it though

Possibly. Way back when a major selling point for Babylon 5 was the "story arc" thing. Since then "Story arc" has entered the lexicon, and absolutely INFECTED the nerdly arts. So to be "good" a lot of creators think you need a huge, convoluted continuing story. Which doesn't work for a comic with no planned end. But it hasn't stopped them so far....

            >I dunno if anyone Asked,.. & recomended the Idea of getting rid of Bruce,..

Probably not; but I'm wondering how many reboots and Mulligans have been the result of a nervous editor seeing all kinds of "I hate that!!!!" posts on the internet.

            >Give the books to good writers and storytellers and drop those prices.

Yeah, but a known name is a hype-tacular draw. THAT really hit stride in the 90's too; when folks were into "designer comics." (Although I think it started earlier when Byrne and Moore got so much hype.) The high quality production also raises the price. (Shonen Jump is printed on newsprint and provides 350+ pages of comic for $5 a month....)

            >Just don't go too big,..

Haw! Like the 90's? As an aside, I thought one of the resons for the proliferation of "big guns" amongst superheroes was 'cos they WANTED to up the titilation (....er.... you know what I mean,) but couldn't get the costumes any tighter or skimpier without actually doing a sex comic (which nobody wanted to do 'cos it'd cut off the prime 14 year old market) so you had to take the things you COULD do to an absolutely insane proportion.

I can remember seeing issues of "Fatale" and wondering if her power was mutant back muscles or antigravity....

The only dc title I care about is Jonah Hex and the current flow of things don't affect my pal Jonah so I'm okay.Unless of course the company folds.
I dropped all the other DC stuff years ago.

And clear out the multiple titles too. Get it down to Detective and Batman, Action and Superman, ONE GL book, and maybe at the most 15 titles. JLA, JSA, World's Finest, Flash, WW, Teen Titans,Booster Gold, Aquaman and a few others.

I think they forgot that it took 50 years to get to the 1st big Crisis and since then they have them every ten years and huge events every year.even before they current financial crisis most of us have probably cut back on the number of books we read, due to bad storytelling, prices, characters changing, events happening and whatnot. yes they bring in numbers with big names or events but that doesn't always mean success or good character development. usually it means 1 maybe interesting story that makes fans fell like they have been betrayed by the Character and the Publishers. I agree with anthony about Dc was always the lighter universe and now they've gone down the marvel way of Days of Future past and given the universe that Marvel hopelessness the X-men face. a very poor way to treat such iconic characters as WW Bats and Supes not mention all the rest. I'm down to just a handful of titles that i get mostly out of loyalty and usually i am dissappointed where they take the characters i love. it's such a shame.

Dini was doing that in Tec, but all this RIP crap interrupted it. When the comic media creates a name called "event fatigue" it's time to give them a rest. To paraphrase Syndrome in the Incredibles, if everything is an event, then nothing is.

it's time for the dallas ending not big hype no long winding story arc

Clark kent et al wake up and everything since the end of the original Crisis was all a dream and start over the entire universe. Byrne's superman reboot worked but it wasn't enough you have to restart the whole darn thing together and none of the characters remember what came before (if DC chooses to keep the memory of the golden and silver age exclusive characters alive a history to inspire the "current" characters

Trim the heard. Pick 1 robin (and not nightwing and robin). 1 modern era human GL whichever one (hal, kyle, John stewart, guy etc), 1 modern flash (wally or barry just pick one), Wonder woman is diana PERIOD. any character who's backround is too convoluted drop em and bring em back later after someone figures out what they will do with them.

a smaller # of well written books will allow the former comic fans a reason to pluck down 3-5 bucks an issue (otherwise the comic industry will only retain it's hardest core fans) and these same fans have other interests like toys and video games and techie gadgets too competing for the same $ (let alone those that have kids too)

                          I read alot of comics.

I read each for different reasons, Superman and Action, because I love Superman.

I read Savage Dragon, Noble Causes, Dynamo 5, Invincible because I love the FEEL of those comics.

I read Fables, Jack of Fables, Planetary, Lone Ranger because I like seeing a exciting different take on old tried and true characters.

I read company wide crossovers (Secret Invasion, Crisis) because I an a glutton for punishment... and I like to keep up in broad strokes.

But I think I read comics in general, because I enjoy the process. I enjoy reading, cliffhangers, Superheroes, art, colors and the glossy paper. I just like comic books.

Do I like the direction some take? Nope. But it's only a story. And all stories have happy endings. Some take a little longer to get there is all.

                              I am doing something similar.
I wait till I get a whole run of a title (or a certain run from one era to another if it's a long-running title) before I read it. Then I like to sit down and read the whole series.
I have books that I bought 10-15 years ago that I haven't read yet. Oddly enough I never run out of stuff to read, LOL.
I just started reading DC Comics Presents. Now I have read several isuues of it already and I was buying it monthly new off the rack towards the end of it's run but there are dozens of issues I've never read. It's going to be fun!
I just finished reading the original Swamp Thing run(cliffhanger anyone?!!)
and before that I read Brave & the Bold #100-200.
