The GREATEST superhero of all times?

All you need is four or five great movie villains here.
Even without punching up "lesser known" Supes' baddies with solid,
bold writing, you STILL have LEX, BIZARRO, MYX, BRAINIAC and ZOD
(Plus assorted PHANTOM ZONE VILLAINS and how about DOOMSDAY?).
That's ^^^ more than enough "big gun" baddies to get a great
movie franchise going.
And God forbid you dip into other DC Villains for a Supes movie benefit
ala Darkseid or Solomon Grundy----two more bankable names that
could carry a movie.
I'm gonna put in my bid for a SUPERMAN VS. JOKER movieComment

You wouldn't be the first to disagree on this...in fact ...no ONE seems to..
Still...
as far as movies go....I don't buy that the Supes villains can't carry a movie...
I wish I was a better or quicker writer---I'd write a spec script
starring ATOMIC SKULL (a lesser known Supes villain---look him up on wiki)
---I don't see what's so difficult if you put some elbow grease into the
writing process---and get creative on giving Supes a bit more
physical and mental flaw than usual...just enough to balance...ya know?
BIZARRO, MR. MYXLPLTLK, BRAINIAC, TOYMAN,
DOOMSDAY, PARASITE, METALLO, PRANKSTER, TERRA MAN,
LEGION OF SUPERVILLAINS, KRYPTONITE MAN, TITANO
^^^^You're telling me there's not a bunch of potential great movies there?
And I wouldn't mind some more LUTHOR and ZOD flicks at this point anyway.
Hey---I like Spidey's rogue's gallery a lot. ELECTRO, RHINO, LIZARD
VULTURE and SANDMAN are some of my favorite villains ever---
(I was never a huge OCK or GOBLIN fan)
Batman? The Joker IS my favorite supervillain---
(besides THE JOKER there are not many Bat-villains that hold my
attention for long)
But as far as quantity and quality of "TOP favorites" in a supervillain
rogues gallery...
LUTHOR, BIZARRO, MR. MYXLPLTLK, BRAINIAC and superpowered
PHANTOM ZONE VILLAINS (Zod, Jax-**, Ursa, etc.) have everyone else
beat just for me personally. I'd truly relish a movie with any of those^^
as the villains.
That doesn't mean I wouldn't prefer a Supes movie WITHOUT
one of my fave Supes villains---Supes is so great a character that
an Intergalactic Superhero Western with TERRA MAN would please
me more than a SPIDEY flick with THE LIZARD at this point---I mean,
I love SPIDEY but SPIDEY's had a lot of attention and care---and
they gotta start getting prolific with the SUPES flicks at this point---
and, I belive they CAN with Supes' underrated rogues gallery.I can understand what you mean that there is potential there if and only if the execs would get out of the way and allow for creative writing.
I can see Darkseid working in a Superman movie. Since those two do have some bad Blood. MR. MYXLPLTLK would be good to throw in the mix.
Brainiac would work also. I don't want to see Zod. Sorry that was already used and is a classic.
As long as they stay away from the whole Doomsday storyline which I totally dislike I always thought that was total garbage.
I think this generation of Movie goers really wants to see Superman Kick Someone's *** not Fly in the Sky with Lois with can you read my mind in the background.Last edited by kingdom warrior; Nov 21, '08, 7:21 PM.Comment

And No Changing Brandon Routh!!! I think it was totally unfair that they were trying to get a Chris Reeve Performance out of him. That was totally wrong. He makes a great Superman. I wish they'd let him just be his own Superman. You never saw Chris trying to be George Reeves or George trying to be Kirk Alyn.......
No recasting you have your Superman now write him a Great script.Comment

Yeah, that's pretty much what I thought of Superman Returns as well. Brandon Routh certainly looked the part, but director Bryan Singer undersold the actor in him by demanding a Christopher Reeve-style performance rather than his own take. That was a mistake. Same for the Clark performance as well. I don't think Clark has to be quite so ignorant acting anymore. After seven years of Smallville, I think most new generation fans would be lost on that old interpretation anyway.Comment

Also no more of this Clark as a bafoon! The comic book doesn't have him falling all over the place like Chevy chase...He's mild mannered not a stupid clown.
That Clark worked for Chris Reeve because he was a talented actor who did it well and it was a good contrast at the time for his Superman.
George Reeves Clark was a hard boiled news reporter who would flake out.
and Kirk Alyn was very mild mannered and timid but actually played it very well.
I didn't like the fact that Routh was made to do Chris's Clark either.Comment

"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment
