I think you guys mentioning "Smallville" have hit it: they want ANOTHER Smallville, but since Batman is too dark and gritty they'll go with the next best thing. It'd be tough writing Bruce dealing with typical adolescent problems.

"Unbreakable" really did a number on the ol' superhero. Now people want all the powers without the tights. Which is sad, 'cos the iconic longjohns are a big part of what separates superheroes from everything else.

The initial idea for Smallville WAS the adventures of young Bruce Wayne, traveling around, learning the skills he'd need to be Batman. WB was trying to get the Batman franchise revived, so the suits nixed the use of Bruce/Batman, and let the producers have Clark/Superman. And Smallville is forbidden to use young Bruce due to the movies, so chances are, you won't be seeing Bruce on the Graysons if it ever makes it to the screen either.

Maybe the biggest disappointment is that DC really thinks that they only have a couple of characters. Superman and Batman. The others are pretty much "...and the rest..." like from Gilligan's Island.

Green Arrow would be all right. I thought they were considering a Justice League type series with the group of heroes from Smallville as well....doesnt look like that will happen either, yet both ideas would do far better than Dick Grayson or even Smallville is these days."Crayons taste like purple!"Comment
