Don Newton is one of my absolute favorite artists. Loved his Batman, and was deeply saddened by his death. What a great career cut short. But he never got the public exposure that Adams and Infantino did, so they remain the definitive SA and BA Batman.

I liked Alan Davis in the eighties, but yeah, the origins of that look are plain to see.

Alan Davis ROCKED on his Batman work, first on Outsiders, and then on Tec. Whenever he gets to draw Batman (like The Nail) it's a real treat. Very Adams/Aparo like.

Davis' run on "Detective" was too short IMO. I liked what he and Mike W. Barr were cooking up at the time.

Yeah, WAY too short. I loved the classic Batman and Robin done-modern take they did. Jason Todd was actually a good character under Barr.

Mike W. Barr had a pretty good take on Batman in general, I thought; his approach to the character dovetailed really nicely with that of Denny O'Neil (who I still consider to be the best Batman writer of all time), so you really felt like you were reading about the same guy.
