While I don't hate either of them (at least not their works,) I don't think either is the end-all be-all of comics. Miller is competent, and can set up a good story; but it all sort of starts looking the same after a while. McFarlane has more versatility, but seems to lose interest in anything he does really early on and never takes anything anywhere.

Hmmmmm....at this point, I'd have to say McFarlane...just because he stays in his own corner of the universe and doesn't cross-over into mine. Miller, however, keeps putting his hands on classic heroes that I still enjoy (Batman, The Spirit) and ruining them...and that just ticks me off.

Miller I have never met so I'm not sure if he is a real person.

When I was a teenager I really liked McFarlane's art style, mostly based on his Spidey run. In hindsight, it must have been a phase. It does have a lot of energy, but I can't say I'm a fan of it now.

Miller...I admire him for his early work. Batman: Year One is one of my all-time favorites. When he does his hard-boiled take on his own stuff, that's fine. Keep your peanut butter out of my Batman daganabbit!!!

I like Miller when he does his own thing. Sin City,300,Ronin, and I liked his run on Daredevil. Batman the Dark knight was ground breaking at the time. But what he's done of late with Batman shows sign of a ego gone mad. He should be slapped with a wet fish for messing with the spirit.

As for Todd, he was an overhyped artist. Although his layouts were groundbreaking his art is laughably bad. Often not knowing where muscles went and overinked the pages to hide the bad art often getting muddy looking prints.......he drew spidey in wild poses but everything else fell apart.

He was part of the Image movement and created fan favorite Spawn.....basically Spiderman with a cape. It's also because of his style that we got Rob Liefield and all the clones who tried to mimic McFarlane and failed. I'll give him credit for creating his toyline that really changed the toy industry. proving you didn't need an animated series to sell toys......oh to add he draws one of the worst Mary Jane Watsons

McFarlane wins by default for me. Not even close to a fan but I have no problem with his comics, I don't have to buy them. I do think he's overrated but really, who isn't?

Used to be the same with Miller but now he is playing director and pooping on one of my favourite characters and putting him in his campy style. It bothers me the egotism being shown here.

My Votes for Todd. I really Enjoyed his 16 Issue Run On Spiderman,.. & the 1st 50+ issues he wrote & drew some with Spawn was very cool to me. With his Action Figures,.. they were the 1st ones that were Overly Detailed & had more articulation (at the time) than any other figures on the Market. I think he kinda Made way for some of the designs of the figures We have today.

I completely disagree...I have always thought he drew one of the BEST Mary Jane Watsons. She never looked so good IMO.

I do agree with you that McFarlane was sloppy as an artist at times. Especially looking back on it.

But at the time, when I was reading Spiderman in the late 80's, early 90's...McFarlane was so different from anything I had seen...I was mesmerized.

Spawn = Spider-man with a cape? Seriously?

They've both done things I love, and things I hate. Miller runs about 3-to-1 in the "things I hate" category. I can hide from McFarlane; Miller is everywhere.

Spawn was actually created using Elements of his most favorite characters he drew in the comics,.. as far as the look Goes. Spider-man, Batman & Punisher.
