    Man. The language!

I don't know. It makes sense for street thugs to curse but it comes back to what made comics FUN. There isn't any fun in them anymore. I like a darker Batman ok but it's gotten to the point I don't want to read it. I can curse like a sailor with the best of them but I find inappropriate in comics. Is this comic an adult comic? Is it labeled as such?

And Batgirl looks rediculous. Too much Alicia in that mask for me.

Why did they even publish it? Sounds like a marketing ploy to generate more buzz for the book. You know copies will show up somewhere and fan boys will buy it up.

        Yep.
I don't know if comics get proofed by way of a sample printing or not. I would think it would be difficult based on sheer volume alone so I can see some getting through with the print error. What I don't get, and think is fishy, is why they would type the enitre word in the first place. I'm no comic publisher but when I want to curse online for whatever reason, I generally do something like: C**T or c--t or some such. I can't see something like a comic book publisher not having similar ways of handling cursing. Aside form that does the CCA still exist? Would they let that go through??? I haven't bought a recent comic so I have no clue.

The Comics Code Authority still exists but every book isn't submitted. Case in point, last week I picked up these books from DC (Green Lantern, Secret Six, House of Mystery, Adam Strange Special, El Diablo, Brave and the Bold)...only Green Lantern was approved by the code. I think nowadays the code serves to monitor books that may stil be available at the newstand level. With something like All-Star Batman, which is for direct only markets AND I believe has some sort of "mature" labelling, DC isn't going to take the time to submit it to the code. It's all about "pushing the envelope".

Yeah once that "cat" is let outta the bag there's no retcon or reboot in the world that can erase it from continuity ...best to not go there.

Showing my age, but every time something like this happens or if I just see a comic with a misspelled word I miss Julius Schwartz just a little bit more.

The Comics code authority has no power other than withholding thier approval (ie stamp) on the cover. in the pre 90's when mostly kids read comics and parents bought em it had more meaning. when the average reader is 15 and up buying with their own money even if they don't get the stamp of approval people still buy it.

Oh I know the CCA has no real power. It's a shame that DC has decided to print this. I understand the more adult nature and it makes sense for street thugs to curse but it just looks like poor writing to me. Anyone can curse. Not everyone can write a good story or good dialogue.

Comics aren't bought by kids for several reasons. I think the biggest reason is non availability. We have to travel on a bus or by car to get to a comic sho and then the prices are so high, my kids would rather spend the money on something else. As would I to be honest.

Comics aren't for kids anymore and the publisher's have added to it. Not just video games and so on. My kids both love to read and both have comics but to shell out 5 bucks on 1 comic when there's so much other stuff in their faces is difficult at best. If they put comics back in corner stores, kids might buy them. Of course, some 99 cent comics would helpwith that. Not so much stuff in a corner store to distract them like a comic shop.

yeah . . . I'm not sure when it happened, but I've been annoyed ever since f--k somehow became considered a standard line of dialogue in books in movies . . .

I knew people growing up that it was every second word in their household, it wasn't even done in anger, it would be "pass the effing this" and "Mom, have you seen my effing hat?" It was like they were smurfs.

                              I guess they weren't alone.
