Hi,
This is my first custom that was more than just a kit bash. I've been slowly rebuilding some figures from original and repro parts. I started this particular project about 12 years ago, using a Famous Covers Daredevil figure and one of the heads from a Graphitti Designs Big Blast Madman figure.
Unfortunately, I didn't get to complete it before a move separated me from the work in progress. Fast forward to this year when I stumbled upon the partially modified head. With the resurgence in Megos in the last several years, I thought I would go for a Mego Madman.
I am still working on Madman's costume, but I fell in love with the character dressed up as a PI. On a side note, if you aren't familiar with the character or his creator (Michael Allred), you should consider checking it out. He's has featured Megos in his comics for years. And I would not be surprised to see official figures in the future.
What I am most proud of is the way i put it together. I used a white Dr Mego body and a series of rubber washers and a nylon nut and bolt. I hollowed out the solid head and imbedded the nylon bolt inside. I then threaded the washer onto the nylon bolt and screwed it into the head. I went through all of that because I wanted to be able swap the head onto another body like any standard Mego.
I am going to be doing the same mode with a Toyfare exclusive Unmasked Madman. I will take photos of the actual progress on that one, something I forgot to do with this one.
Thanks for all your posts and for welcoming new posters such as myself.
