LOL! Well im sure the LOVE part will come after the car is finished. Until theN, i'm afraid this will be purely LABOR! LOL! -
In a word: Tenacity!
It's truly amazing what a difference a few months and some elbow grease made on that front hood clip!
There's a LOT to be said for preserverence, kids!

I did a placement mock up of one wheel assembly in the wheel well of the front hood clip to check the size relationship.
Perfect!!

As a coincidence, just as I completed the grey primer coats on the Batmobile's front hood clip, the postman deilvered the car's SOLID urethane rubber racing tire castings! Just like my original wood sculpt, these castings PERFECTLY accommodate the chrome wheel rims that this toy will use. Also, since these tires are solid not hollow, they feel quite hefty of weight! This is going to be a weighty custom vehicle!

I would estimate the weight and mass density of each wheel rim / urethane rubber tire assembly to be comparable to an un-opened can of tuna!Last edited by darklord1967; Apr 6, '16, 3:46 AM.Leave a comment:

After more than one week of additional sculpting, smooth sanding, re-shaping, straightening out warps, sharpening dull edges, and filling pinholes, I came up with a part that was about as clean as I could get it!
I shot the entire assembly with grey primer, and now have finally deemed it more than acceptable for molding and casting.

I did some deliberate puttywork under the new windshield shelves to hide all the seams.

The test coat of black primer revealed more problems with the Batmobile's front hood clip sculpt than I anticipated.
Using styrene strip I created a much sharper and straighter "shelf" for the windsheild bubble canopy.
