Toothpicks are a good idea, I;m not sure the actual size (I am not much of a painter out side of this guys) So I just bought a pack and it had a tiny brush in it that I use.No body takes pot shots at Lubic!

Toothpicks are great that's how I started off doing my 1/35 scale figures. Here's another little tip for eyes especially the iris, get a lead pencil and draw a circle for the iris and then when you paint the paint will stay inside of the lead.

Please, please, please don't take offence...but since no one else has the heart to say it, I guess it falls on me. I understand that you don't want the face to be a uniform color...but you sometimes need to tone down the drastic contrasts.
Superman looks ill. I mean, he really looks like he's on deaths door.
On the other hand...your Joker & Hellboy are FANTASTIC! I'm just trying to be helpful and honest...and say that it's sometimes possible to "over due".

Cool, I'm glad I didn't get you ticked off at me.
But yeah, like tbolt said...using a color that's just a shade darker or lighter will look better. It won't be such a drastic contrast. When I paint faces, I mix two different flesh tones 50/50...then when I do the lips, I use the darker of the two...and it's just enough to stand out...but not to much, ya know?
