I had started a couple of them a few years ago, but for the most part that was an entire weekend stuck indoors.
What I really brought back from sitting around the table with you guys at Mego Meet was that it can actually be a really quick process to assemble a figure when you have so many great heads, suits, bodies and accessories from folks like BLeit, Austin, Russ, Doc Mego, CTVT, Cast-A-Way, and others in that room at the Toy Museum in Wheeling, and online at the Museum.
The real light-bulb moment for me was the idea of doing them all at once rather than one at a time. Of course on the flip-side, I've yet to fully complete one of these that I've been working on in the past few weeks. There are a half dozen that are still missing eyes!

Very nice factory of characters. Where did you find the Electro and Hobgoblin heads? Those are cool sculpts.Leave a comment:

Coming along nicely, keep us updated on that Ghost Rider bikeMore Head Painting tonight since I've just about run out of bodies to assemble.
Also painting the motorcyle to try and make a Danny Ketch Ghost Rider bike. Using neon orange to try to get the streaking flame effect once I add some neon yellow to the wheels.
Black Gloss doesn't seem quite right for the hair on George Reeves Superman... did he have more brownish hair?
Burt Ward had brown hair I think?
Discovered that the DC Comics database is a fantastic source for character's eye colors! I'm sure there must be a similar Marvel database out there.
Characters - DC Comics Database
Noticed that Darwyn Cooke's Catwoman's goggle lenses are coloured in various ways. I think I'm going to go gloss black with white and yellow highlights.
I'm liking the gold for Dr Fate's helmet.
And yes, Burt Ward has brown hairLeave a comment:

Great Scott!! It looks like your running your own little action figure sweat shop there!!
Nice work on all of them so far. A tip for the eyes, buy a paint pen with a fine tip. I use a white one, and then a black for the pupil, etc....I prefer the simpler Mego look most times. If you wanted to get fancier though, they do make several different colors. they are way easier to use than a brush if you have meathooks for hands like I do.Leave a comment:

The Wife went to Montreal to visit with the In Laws this weekend, so it was just me and the puppy hangin' out at home.
Between the G20 Craziness in Toronto and the torrential rain, we were stuck inside, so I decided to pull out my big bag of custom parts that I had been sitting on for a few years now and start painting and assembling.
I enjoyed it a great deal, particularly after hanging out at the custom table at Mego Meet. I'm really going to have to practice dotting the eyes though.
HOLY MOLY - that is one weekend?Leave a comment:

Another set of figures.

I thought the Darwyn Cooke Catwoman would have been a lot easier than it's turning out to be. It's going to need quite a bit of work.
Even though people can't tell under the suit, it feels kind of wrong for me to use a Caucasian body for Black Panther, so I'll have to pick up a brown body for him.
I'm rapidly running out of bodies, and I still have a couple of dozen heads in the works and quite a few suits as well. My Cast-A-Way bodies are long used up and I just used my last Dr Mego body. I only have CTVT bodies left, but they are turning out to be a might fragile even with the normal handling of putting a custom together!
I'll also have to put together a huge shopping list of accessories and other items I'll need to order so I can complete the enormous pile customs I have in progress right now.Leave a comment:

I really like the 12 inch Superman figs on 8 inch scale, I had Austin make those for me. Great Hawkman, too.Leave a comment:

This weekend's customs in progress!

I have no idea why, but it appears that I had the Wolverine head cast in glow in the dark resin when I ordered it years ago. Of course once you paint it, it's not longer glow in the dark, so I opted to keep the eyes and teeth glowing. Kind of a neat effect. I ran out of Cast-A-Way bodies, but I think I'll have to swap it out for one when they come back in stock since he would probably benefit from a stockier look.
I really want to get one of Doc's new muscle bodies for The Beast when those come out, but the vintage Hulk body will do for now.Last edited by samurainoir; Jul 12, '10, 2:40 PM.Leave a comment:
