Hi and welcome to the crazy world of customizing. The goal I guess is to be able to be a really great sculptor. I want to make a successful mold and cast. Once I make a mold, I can then sell replicas in resin...which will give me more ca$h to fund my expen$ive hobbie$. I will shrink a select few of them to Mego scale...but again that needs more chimpchange.

You will not believe this, but I have downsized my sculpting tools. I use an exacto knife, a wooden toothpick (one end is blunt and sanded smooth--the other end is just left sharp), a medium sized paint brush and 99% isopropyl alcohol (for smoothing down the sculpts), and a box of sculpey firm. That's it. And also the will to make it so.

You just have to start. It will look like crap at first, but you get better with each successive sculpt.

can you bake that since it has a plastic "skull". I would think it would melt and the eyes of the original head would melt.

Thanks for the reply Jessica. Well, the expense of the tools and materials to get started shouldn't be my excuse for not trying LOL. My problem would be finding the time to dedicate to it..... and then the sewing of the costumes. I may have to try my hand at something soon..... something simple. Anyway, I look forward to learning more .

These vinyl heads make it through 270 degrees fahrenheit for 20 minutes. Their structure holds fine and there's no sign of melting. Never tried it with Mego heads though...those seem more fragile...these are the 1:6 scale vinyl heads I am baking.

I'm going to try sculpting this guy in 1:6 scale. Does anybody know if he's been sculpted at 1:6 scale?

i think he's from star wars. he's wearing a gorilla vest from the original Planet of the Apes movie. I guess he's supposed to be some kind of bounty hunter??

Current state. I need to bake at this stage so that I can further build up the shape of his head. The clay is misbehaving...
