There's pluses and minuses to all options. The S type bodies have better posability, but the standard bodies have such a huge gap between the legs at the hip, the unnecessary indents on the inside of the thighs, and almost no detail or definition on the legs, so I've always passed on them. The new bodies will be almost perfect when the kness get fixed, but the lower arms and hands are still just a bit small proportionally to the rest of the body. There are some customs I would use the new body for, though, if the arms and the knees were tweaked; it's a good, solid figure. I always tend to go with the type 2 classic body or the modern version from the later modern waves (the early waves had that wonky left hip jutting out). The old bodies are a little more sturdy in the banded joints, but the new ones have much stronger knees. The type 2 also has a perfect 70's Jim Aparo/Neal Adams build, especially in the torso, and I'm all about the Bronze Age versions of characters. I have taken the new 50th figures and used type 2 bodies for them, mostly because that's what I loved best as a kid.
Type S could definitely use more muscular definition. It also has a right hip jutting out issue, especially noticeable on the earlier bodies. If not for the terrible construction, I really like the CTVT standard body. Figures look good on them, and then you try to pose them and everything good just falls to the side.
The body used in the DST Marvel sets is really good. I thought it was a Doc Mego body, but it seemed to be a little different and better made that what I had ordered from his website in the past.
