Are there any "Perfect" modern Mego bodies?

    Hi,

There seem to be a few options out there for Mego bodies. Are there any which are better than the new Mego bodies with knee issues? I'm asking because I'm thinking of swapping heads from the WGSH 50th anniversaries series on to bodies with better articulation. Thanks!

Perfect is in the eye of the beholder... but I think the Type S body is pretty close to perfect.

That said, the knee issue is pretty easy to fix yourself (and likely a non-issue if you only intend your figure for display), so I don't know that I would swap just because of that.

I think it depends what costume you're going to put on the figure.

If its a full body suit, than Type S or the new Bandless Mego body is fine.

If there's gonna be some skin showing, I'd go with the bandless Mego body.

If you go with the type S though, I recommend the upgraded arms kit. Makes the shoulders stand out more under a body suit.

Type S bodies I think they’re going for $10.99 each, I might be getting a couple soon myself, although my luck with ctvt orders lately hasn’t been to good.

wouldn't you need an adapter of some sort to use modern Mego heads on a type s body?

Yes. Same if you were to use a Toybiz Famous Covers head.
But it's pretty easy to install.

I have seen cases of otherwise MOC broken knee Mego Hulks that prove original Mego bodies weren’t exactly perfect either.

I can’t get completely behind the S-type. I have a custom Joker that I built on that body and was posing him in some extreme poses to take photos (because really, if he’s not going to be in extreme poses, what’s the point of an extremely possible body?) and it was great for about 5-6 posed photos, but now the ankles and knees are so loose and floppy that the figure can’t stand on it’s own.
Expectation is the death of discovery.

That's the Type S discussed here and carried by FTC/CTVT.

I've noticed that FTC/CTVT has the "S" type body. Is this more solid than the bodies that come with their modern figures? Is there an aftermarket body that has the same heft as the OG MEGO figures?

                            Thanks again!

The body with the most heft was the 2003 era 7th Street figures from Doc Mego. The torsos were a kind of brittle plastic and the arms and legs were a solid rubbery plastic. The body bands were made too long so they were doubled up paradoxically making them too tight. This stretched and tore the arm loops and the hip hooks unless they were restrung. I bought a lot of these at the time and have mostly retired them. The CTVT original India body was similar to the late era Mego body in that it was made of a very waxy feeling plastic that broke somewhat easily. Their second generation China made body was a huge improvement. The Mego Deux body with neck post is a really good body with similar characteristics to the best original Mego bodies. The FTC/CTVT S type body seems good so far. I haven’t done a lot with them. I haven’t done anything with the Medo Deux bandless body yet. They ones I have are all still packaged.
