Has Anybody Ever Considered CHiPs Customs?

I wouldn't worry so much about it. You'll find that to most people Mego=WGSH. Anything else is kinda secondary. I even use the Waltons as my fave "kick arounds."

....but I DO still own a full set....

The CHiPs figures are pretty snazzy. They come with loads of accessories that actually STAY where they're supposed to! Loads of playability too. And they're cheap enough that you can buy a ton and put the uniforms on other figures to build a decent force. (Easiest custom EVER! I used some LJN SWAT heads for the extra guys.)

I hate the bike though. I have one, and they're really blah; especially next to the figures themselves. I've been looking for model kit bikes to use instead, but kits in the right scale are REALLY expensive, and usually come in a zillion pieces. (I hate motorcycle kits....) Found a motor scooter in scale at the dollar store, but it's not the same. (Kromedome was riding it for a while.)

Hey! Nice hearing from you guys fallensavior and Don C. That's something else I could have mentioned but didn't cross my mind. Police figures, whether it be CHiPs, SWAT, or Emergency (non police), these figures who wear uniforms and come with accessories come in handy if you ever wanted to make cops, whether it be Metropolis, Gotham, or any city cops to go as background figures are an asset.
Speaking of Waltons, I only use them for customs or parts. In fact, Grandpa Walton generously donated his round body, overalls and boots for my custom of Uncle Jesse.
I agree about the CHiPs motorcycles. They looked nothing like the Kawasakis used on the show. But I still would like to find 3 of them. My Ponch and Sgt Getraer figures came in yesterday and I'm already conspiring to get Jon and several cycles.
So it was SWAT who had the police car? Interesting. That car would have been great for CHiPs and/or the Dukes of Hazzard. With police uniforms, heck, I'd like to see someone make Martin Milner and Kent McCord, the two co stars of Adam 12. Megos of them plus a black and white cruiser for the figures would have been great. Oh, and for what it's worth, I'd like to find the CHiPs helicopter someday.

If I make customs of a team character; like Cobra troops, Morlocks, cops.... I make 5: three troops, one female (if appropriate) and one leader.

I got this weird thing that I can't use a figure for parts unless I already have one in my collection. Even if they're a character I don't like.

The Waltons DO make excellent victims though. Mine have been kidnapped by pirates, monsters, Dr Kromedome, and they'll probably be eaten by the Alien once my figure is done.

The whole point with customs is to make figure that YOU want to see, or to complete a line that you loved. You don't need anyones approval. Besides, doing characters that aren't as "popular" gives people a chance to see something new. I mean, how many Flashes and Green Lanterns have we seen? I like them all but seeing characters people don't always do is great. Like Bob Barker. I saw a Gil Grisom (spelling?) custom that rocked and I have at least 2 planned that are not main stream. I basically want to see if I can pull them off.

I think the important thing with customs is to do the best job you can on them. Every one you do makes you better at it. I was never a huge chips fan, but so what? I'd still love to see what you come up with??? GO FOR IT. All you really need are the different heads. I would like to see the Mechanic guy, that always complained about them crashing up their vehicles. Or was that Starsky, and Hutch? Dang, memory is shot.

You were right the first time. Ah yes, the one character I hated on CHiPs, Harlan Arlyss. The CHP mechanic. I'd say that one is an easy no brainer. Headwise, I think Starsky would work because of the curly hair with a little facial repaint. Other than that, Dr. Mego has the rest. A white shirt with tie, dress pants and shoes and last but not least, the white lab coat. I may actually consider doing that one. Thanks for the suggestion!!

Just make what you like. I'm going to try my own line of 70' Teen Titans the ones non-fans do even realize exist. i would love to see you push the CHiPs line to all the characters. Look what EMCE is doing for Trek, New Sulu and Chekov figures. Just Have FUN !!!
