It'll probably take a couple of days to fully shrink.

Shrinkage and paint survival is also dependent on purity of the acetone. I think if you use the acetone from nail polish remover you can salvage a lot of the paint and I've also seen where some of the doll customizers salvage even the hair from the female figures they've dipped. That really blew me away when I saw that.Comment

Type of paint also has something to do with it. Some paint survives perfect, and some washes right off, as soon as it touches the acetone. Saving the hair intact with the rooted heads would be awesome.Comment

All I had at the time was the Flash Gordon head that I shrunk and then gave to Doc to cast. Goes back many years ago when everyone was playing with acetone and seeing what they could do. I got really lucky because at the time if you left it in too long the heads would literally disintegrate. My original reason for doing it was because the Flash Gordon head was, in my eyes, a perfect head for a Dynamo custom that I eventually got to some 10 years after Doc cast itComment

So far the head has only returned to it's original size. It should start shrinking soon...

Not a whole lot of shrinkage going on here. I soaked the head until it was pretty saturated, so it should be working. Maybe it's just slower than I remember.Comment

I just put a Jon head in my jar of acetone, and the hair instantly is clouding it up. So Ming's head kept the paint pretty well and Jon's isn't at all.Comment

Jon with Ming and Zarkov. Jon lost all his paint just sitting in the acetone. Ming lost it where I and the jar touched it, just a little on the beard. Ming sure hasn't shrunk much. I know that I shrunk a zombie Jon head, and it shrunk very well. This one isn't shrinking as fast as the other one did. Zarkov hasn't touched the acetone yet.

Jon and his body. Fresh out of the acetone.
And with a Batman head for comparison.

Well, Ming isn't shrinking very much at all. I'm going to soak the Zarkov head longer than Ming was. Jon finally looks like he has a regular size head. He looks much better, now. I'll post a picture in a while.Comment

Ming is not being very cooperative, not much shrinkage. Jon was a better success. I have shrunk a Jon head before, so I knew that one would work. Different batches of heads react different in the acetone. Some heads hit the acetone and have problems right away. Some heads seem indestructible and can handle multiple soakings in the acetone, while others fall apart. For some reason, it seems that the zombie heads shrink better.
