The original ZICA Buck Rogers was a great muscular bandless body. Unfortunately the waist size and limited articulation detracted from it. The current ZICA/CAT Type "S" body is the best bandless body out there. It was built to be easily modified and/or upgraded as it features detachable limbs. There is an upgrade kit to give a more muscular look and add enhanced articulation. Unfortunately there has been no additional offerings for the body such like extra forearms (i.e. lizard or creech) or lower legs (i.e. molded star trek boots) to maximize customizing potential... There's a lot of potential for this body but no extra offerings whatsoever.

As for a female bandless body its about time someone developes one. The Mego and Re-Megos are pure crap. Mattel retro weren't that bad but I wonder why Mattel insisted in bow legs for its retro bodies... And the ZICA Yvonne body just looks off proportion and anatomy.
Who's going to be the pioneer for a new female bandless body?

I guess that makes this thread irrelevant....
Glad to hear something is in the works. Thanks for spilling some of your beans. I can't wait to hear more about the new body!

You can still produce your own Lonnie. In this field, the more the merrier. Craig's stuff is great and yours will be as well. Maybe you can produce clothes that fit instead of being saggy and baggy.

Sounds Great!!! Can't wait for the revealing. I wonder will this be a joint effort akin to the Type S with Casteaway.

It's way too expensive to produce the molds to have the kind of competition. There's not enough of a market to handle that many new bodies and have the investment pay off.

No, this is solely a ZICA Toys project.

I agree a new 8" body needs to get away from the rubber bands, I loved he old Mego body as a kid but all the repro bodies that still use bands have issues with the tension and usually have less range of motion and pose-ability than the original Mego design they are emulating. More muscle definition would also help to let the muscles show through the cloth costumes a bit. I thnk the Mego body has a decent amount of articulation as is, maybe just a tweak or two in that area would be ok, but too many joints start to ruin the look of the body sometimes.

I'm shooting for the 1st Quarter of next year. I've got two other projects I want to get completed first, one of which is the 4" Adventure People figures, and the other one is being kept under wraps for now.

Its getting cheaper all the time. There are now desktop CNC mills to make molds and desktop injection machines to produce parts. They are expensive, but if someone could make a few molds on their own, it would pay for the costs of the machines. Obviously the quality won't be the same as an industrial machine, but for certain designs it could work. Nice thing about a Mego body is that is it covered up with clothes, so the surface texture may be less of an issue.

I wonder if you could make hollow heads in Mego scale this way?

I can make heads hollow by hand, but they aren't soft. I just use regular casting resin.

Thanks Lonnie. I found the Castaway site first but I just posted that I just discovered this site with Yvonne. Is this your site? I don't know the difference between Castaway and Zica. I will try to PM you. I could not figure out how to PM on my phone. Thank you!
