Sorry, added an extra "0" by mistake...it's was $2,800. And yes, I also thought were talking about sculpting...not painting.

I'm sorry I even brought painting up. Why is it considered so much less work than sculpting? It's not, and I don't care how good somebody is...$28,000 for a single head sculpt is ridiculous.

so, the person that designed and sculpted your Batman model up there, the work is not worth more than your paints?

It depends. In some cases I would say yes. As a professional modeler for 20+ years, I can tell you first hand that some buildups can take three months to as long as a year to complete depending on the complexity of the kit and require hundreds of hours of work. An expertly built and painted kit is more than the sum of it's parts...it's a work of art in it's own right and therefore has value as such.

Just the blue parts of the Batman kit above required seven steps to achieve the look of satin and the entire kit took me probably 80 hours to complete. How many hours do you spend on some of your customs? They are pieces of art and have value.

But anyway...you're entitled to your opinion. I really don't want to argue about it anymore. I made a comment (jokingly) about undercharging for heads and got jumped on by everybody.
So much for posting a thread trying to help people out.
