    Sneak peak - Ursus head

I hope I am doing this right...

So... If that worked, here are sneak pics of my James Gregory as Ursus from Beneath the POTA head. I am holding off on his fur for the next couple days while I try to figure out some issues. Basically I want him to have a removable helmet, BUT, I don't want him to have permanent hat-hair. So I may give him a seperate removable upper hair section to be replaced by the optional helmet. Or not. Don't know yet. Have to experiment over the weekend and hope to have him done and casting started by next week.
I wanted a more "expressive" ape face, so I gave him the sneer. Sort of as if he is just about to utter something plithy like "The only good human is a dead human". But I also wanted to keep him film accurate in terms of how the latex face appliances behave on the actors. I didn't want to venture into exageration or fantasy (look where that got us, TIM BURTON!)
Thanks for looking, sorry I am long winded.
Keep an eye out in the next week or so for WIP pics of Ursus armor, gaunlets, correct boots, rifle and pistol.

Thanks everybody! Its been a long time since I have sculpted something "big". Most of my sculping has been between 1:72, 1:32, and 1:24 scale (which is why my "scale comparison" nickel is glued to the railing). Your feedback makes me feel like I am on the right track.

I know you said this in regard to posting the pictures, but I wanted to say that as far as that sculpt goes, you're definitely doing it right... As everyone said, that piece is really looking good!

I thought I'd give my opinion on the hair (which of course means nothing as it's your creation and a cool one at that!)

Myself, if I had sculpting skills, I'd put the hair directly on the figure's head and just have a removable helmet. I'm sure that you could easily create a helmet that would fit on his head without looking too big and without having it look like he has "hat hair".

I have a question for you though: Will you be selling casts of the Ursus head when you're completed with him?
