And in Batman and Robin Jason refers to the fact that Batman made him dye his hair, so some precrisis Jason Todd stuff is sneaking thru.

Jeez I miss Don Newton. Seldom mentioned, and one of the best IMO. Loved his Shazam! stuff in Adventure, and his Batman was so evocative--Nocturma!

BK--respectfully, Pre-Crisis matters immensely, it's what really shaped and defined DC, from the '30s innovations to the '50's innovations. Without classic DC, what could the revamps of Crisis or New 52 sping from?

And when revamps/ reboots falter, it seems it's often the original concepts that resurface.

I agree--I took your later comment to be more general.

I think I've derailed the thread . lol

I loved the Multi-verse and spoke it fluently but obviously DC thought that it was too difficult for the masses to understand...

Hey, i was one of the masses and i understood it quite well, i loved it in fact. While Crisis was amazing i hated how it ended with the merging of worlds and the wiping out of 50 years of continuity.
I also prefer the original Jason , even though he was just a rip-off Dick Grayson. Giving him a more unique costume would have made him stand out better as well. Too bad they just washed dick's old suit and gave it to jason.

I've said it for years, Crisis was a great read, beautifully crafted, but I think DC threw the baby out with the bath water. In hindsight I think they had extreme Marvel envy. They had hot creators who made their names mostly at Marvel back at DC (Wolfman, Wein, Thomas, Perez, etc) and some felt that Marvel's continuity was clear (and it was pretty clean at the time) and DC's was jumbled. I think DC could have skipped Crisis and just done a soft reboot with really hot creators for their fiftieth anniversary. Crisis didn't really solve anything and just made things messier and messier, ultimately resulting in a the New 52 reboot, which still managed to make a jumbled mess out of things by not completely throwing out Batman and GL's previous continuity.

I couldn't agree more! I think if DC really wants to do a re-boot, then do it and start from scratch already!

I also wish that Jason had a more distinctive costume, which is why I was trying to find this obsure version. I am thinking I may have imagined it, because I went through every issue of Batman and Detective Comics from that era and couldn't find it. So let me ask this, If you were going to do a retcon to Jason's outfit (pre or post Crisis) - what would you do?
I kind of like this one:
                      Jason_Todd_Adult_Robin_suit.jpg
It looks like a cross between the Earth 2 adult Robin suit and the regular Robin suit, as well as Tim's.

^That's an odd one. I remember scratching my head when I saw it. It does seem to be cobbled together from about every Robin suit going. It's not too bad, but I don't see street tough Jason wearing yellow tights. Old, circus acrobat Jason would though.

Crisis really screwed a lot of continuity up. Before the "stealing Batman's wheels" story was written and Crisis wiped out the whole Jason Todd meets Batman saga there was an interesting story behind Jason Todd with his original strawberry blond hair. I was never a fan of the changes that Crisis had made and wiped out and rewritten and messed up a lot of things.

                          *side note*
I believe that costume that you are talking about is one of the costumes during the era when Dick Grayson was getting an upgrade and they asked fans to send in ideas. There was a lot of people that sent in stuff and eventually the one suit Dick Grayson used he passed over to Dick Grayson from Earth 2. I'm sure Chris knows more about this.

I liked the reboot of Jason Todd post- crisis better than the original because the original was too much like Dick Grayson. I like the tension between Jason and Batman and while the way Jason was brought back was a bit dubious, I liked having him alive and being Batman's biggest mistake as the Red Hood very much in the traditon of David and Absalom or King Arthur and Mordred.

I also miss Don Newton's art. Would have loved to have seen what he would have done with Infinity Inc.
Crisis fueled a lot of good things but also messed up a lot of things. I really enjoyed the post Crisis Superman until Reign of the Superman, loved Perez's Wonder Woman, Wally was fun as Flash, but The post crisis handling of Hawkman ravaged the character like Sherman did to the South with his march to the sea. The JSA's history never really worked well after Crisis nor did the Legion's, although DC still did some good comics with those characters.

In my own personal continuity of the DC Universe Eath One, Two, Three, X, S, Post Crisis is all still there in my trades, back issues and memory. To me, the New 52 is just Earth 52. Yeah, way off topic.
