    painting hero teeth?

So, I'm making a custom hero using a villain head, but he shows a lot of teeth (big human smile), I figure I should paint them white, but it seems like a lot of not broken-up white for a face, but they aren't fangs or anything monstrous. I don't know what color to maybe drybrush in for the teeth to stand out. Otherwise he looks kinda strange. Wouldn't be weird if he was a monster or villain, weird though for a hero.

    help?

    Hmmmm....

Are they sculpted as separate teeth, or just an Archie-esque tooth mass? For separate teeth you could start with a base of dark brown for the whole mouth, and drybrush the teeth up with light grey and a buffing of white.

yeah. paint teeth as solid block of color. if you paint each individual tooth the gaps between might look strange...dig?

tried to use black to separate them, didn't like it, went back over it with white and found myself with a mouthful of gray teeth. Kept putting white till they were pearly again. I give up.

I'd do like ctc said, brown or black washthen dry brush light grey and white on top of that. On freaks I usually do a red wash around the bottoms of the teeth, too.

I had always believed that heroes don't laugh (or even smile). But that's just me...

Paint the entire tooth section a dark flesh color. That is the color you want to see between the teeth. Then go back and dry brush the teeth white. Works on monsters too.

I use a toothpick with red or pink or flesh to do the gums.

I would first start with a fully dry red/brown base coat. Using a small amount acrylic on a palette, thin down slightly with water, add the next lighter color shade with a brush. Allowing each paint layer to completely dry before the next.

I haven't given up on this, I just couldn't wait to get a picture of Prof. Casket posted. I'm still tinkering.

Here's with his teeth painted flesh-tone and then dry-brushed white...(doesn't turn up in picture well.)
