The customs I see on this board are excellent and are mostly done in a manner that I think fits the definition of custom action figures. But when it comes to Ebay I really scrutinize that stuff closely. I also have to always measure craftmanship versus a very broad use of the term "custom action figure". A good example are the custom movie Batman figures that are always available. The descriptions have always bothered me because they don't really tell you what your getting...exactly. Upon closer examination I noticed the heads, hands, and chest pieces are actually duplicated model pieces from existing FOREIGN kits attached to your basic 12 inch figure. Now while the effect is descent for a picture, it doesn't fit my definition of a custom action figure. To me it's more of a glorified model kit with joints.
Without question there's a skill there and I'm not suggesting anything less. But I do think the price is way off the mark of what the actual time and cost utilized to make it would suggest.

Would his name be Kenneth Riley? If so, what is his deal? Is he some rip-off guy? He's the one who got in touch with me.

That's him alright. He's no rip-off guy, just someone who appreciates customs A LOT, he has asked pretty much every customizer here for some of their work. He's a bit weird, sometimes he'll send ya cash and sometimes you don't hear from him anymore

If I may also add my wee two cents: I suppose the pricing of the figure also depends upon whether/how much you're attached to the figure. Can you make another one for your own collection if need be? How easy is it to replace?

As someone way too abnormally attached to my customs, I can honestly say I'm too big a packrat to part with them, but I always think of something my Mom says frequently:

"Something's only worth what someone else is willing to pay!". LOL!!!!!!

                      Best of luck to you!

^^^ Then you hear nothing back after quoting a price. Sometimes money shows up, sometimes not. And, since I know he lurks here, he's reading this and maybe will learn some more of the fine art of communication.

I would say, think of it in hourly terms, PLUS materials--- including time to make pattern, sew, paint and whatever else went into custom.
