    One neglected Mego project fixed!

    Hi Gang,

Sharing some results for those Knight swords that have lost their shine.
As you can see, this was almost completely bare! That was great, less old chrome to remove. Couldn't do much for the wavy tip.
This might be considered a temporary fix for some. But for me, I'm gonna stick with it, as I don't play hard with my knights.
Yes, you can do this yourself. The foil is a modeling accessory called bare metal foil. I've used this for years on model cars, then Mego goodies.
This stuff is thinner than tin foil and it's a sticky back.
Just be patient and set a little time aside.
Recommend washing so foil sticks better. Trimming so small is a trick. Using shears and an exacto knife. Use a toothpick to get it in the recesses. I use flat toothpicks.

    How's she look?

    Thanks so much, T

Wow! That is amazing work! Is there anything you can coat it with so the material is protected?

It does say you can paint on it, so a coating may be possible.
I've never painted it. I've always used it for the chrome trim on my models
I should add that I know there are places to have this chrome plated, I just don't want to send it out. These are hard enough to get!

Do you think that works better/applies easier than chrome spray, which can be bought in stores?

Maybe not easier, but no fumes and no runs. Plus you can take your time.

I've never been fond of chrome spray, it looks nothing like chrome.
This here does take some practice. Its very thin. I use an exacto knife just to peel it! But at least it looks like chrome

Wow. Glad to hear about this stuff.
For my models I have been using Silver,Copper, bronze and Gold leafing kits.

It's an uneven finish. It works like those Presto Magic sets.
I like this. I'll have to try it!!!! Thank You!
