Famous Cover Dr Doom Question?

I acetoned the doom boots and gloves...they got dull gray and the black paint smeared a bit. But they do work great now...FC Thor boots too...

I'm surprised the paint didn't dissolve completely. I'll have to start playing around with some stuff. Thanks

Just a quick rundown of the Doom recipe I used..
FC head mounted to DM body.
Sparkle mesh body suit
Shrunken FC boots and gloves
Unaltered FC DD tunic and cape
Works okay

I would never have thought of using Acetone with rubber costume parts before this thread!

yeah, Dave, it works pretty well on any type of soft pvc.

I think TrueDave's suggestion of using the large-scale Bandai Mystic Knights figures is a good one. That was a detailed line with loads of weapons & some removeable armor pieces.

Personally I think Mattel's 1980's Secret Wars has the best Dr Doom head. I've considered doing an enlargement but I get the vibe that most folks like hoods seperate from the sculpt.

Yeah, in Mego format a cloth hood would look better.

The FC doom is a piece of feces, IMO. There are way better Doom figs out there.

I think either could work... I've seen some molded hoods with charm (kind of like the Green Goblin's, Penguin's and Mr Mxy's hats) but I like the fabric hood too.
I still haven't sculpted a head for it, so this is the FC doom noggin, but my DrD in progress is modelling the WOZ castle here:
