    Famous Cover Dr Doom Question?

Can someone tell me what the Famous Covers Dr Doom has going on under his robes? (boy, talk about a softball right over the center of the plate...)

Is his torso armor looking, like his arms and legs?

No - its a basic FC body... the arm and leg armor are long rubber sleeves. Kinda WOZ Tinman style, but thicker.

(and whatever else, I will kindly thank him to keep his softballs away from my plate).

The FC doom is a piece of feces, IMO. There are way better Doom figs out there.

I would not disagree with that assessment. the head is kinda ok though if you add a neck and put it on a T2 (still what mine is sporting till I do a sculpt), but by that point you might as well pick up a recast.

Everything else on the fig is largely useless for conversion.

THe armor is rubber and tends to degrade over time. I have acetone shrunk pieces of it for a more accurate fit on 9 inch figures.

Actually, what I am looking for is just a 9 inch figure in a suit of armor. I was hoping Doom might work for me. Doesn't sound like a great option, though. Is there a better option?

Yeah, I scalped one because the head is in the right scale. I'll do some tinkering to it, some day.

The body armor is a rubber disaster. Too big for normal Megos. Not sure about Doc's Muscle body. It would be a pain to put on something without a release like PAM.

Does the acetone take away the eventual sticky feeling, the armor gets after a while, once they harden?

^^^ Yep, it sure does. The stuff cracks real easy in acetone, so be careful.

There are better head scupts out there. I don't really like resin hoods that are part of the head. A lot of people use the FC Doom robe for Mego scale customs, but it's way, way too big. It's an easy but ineffective alternative, But that's just my opinion.

Have you tried any of the other FC boots and gloves in acetone? Did they hold up the way heads do? Did they lose color? Was shrinkage similar to doing a head?

                          About other 9" Armor bodies:
I would look at Bandai for that.
I know there was a Power Rangers like show in the 1990's with removable armor on thier figures. Larger figures too. Knights based on the elements. Live action .

Doms armor is 2 rubber arm "condoms" 2 knee high boots" 1 pair of grey rubber biker shorts, 1 rubber chestpiece starts at waist ends at shoulders.
I think it was cool that FC tried this, but I dont think it worked out so great on Doom.

No, I think Austin did it with a pair of boots I sent him. I can try, I have a few pairs that I will never use.
