I have had some luck with the pins. I have also used the female part of the pin and scocket set and used a screw from a hobbie shop, that worked great once the clothes are back on you cant tell. I think that works better then the new pins. I am now working on a fixture for my small press to be able to press new pins in with ease.Comment

1) I tried and failed miserably.
2) I feel so much better seeing this thread. I don't feel alone.Comment

No, I'm afraid that the Doc Mego knee pins just don't work on any of the 12" Megos. Someone here once figured out why, but I can't remember the details. They just don't snap together once you have the two leg parts in between them. I've resorted to just supergluing the original broken pin into the socket once I have the leg together (permanent) or buying nylon nuts and bolts that are the right size and using them (non-permanent). Both of those work good enough for me, so no more frustrations with the Doc Mego pins.Last edited by cjefferys; Jan 2, '12, 11:26 PM.Comment

I don't use replacement pins.
I take a screw, cut it down to the correct length, drill the joint to the same diameter of the screw, and then insert it. It may look crude, but it's fully functional, better, faster, stronger....
When the outfit goes over the body, you don't see a thing wrong.
I've replaced every possible 12" joint break, including shoulders, wrists, you name it....

This is probably the direction I will go. Not sure how I am gonna cut the screw, but I will see what I can figure out. This may require me buying a tool. LOLComment

After messing with the replacement knee pins for the past few hours, I don't think they are for me. I'm going to have to try the screw method too.Comment

To cut the screw to the right length and remove the bit sticking out, I just use a Dremel tool. Please remember to wear protective eye gear, 'cause sparks will fly and the screw will heat up a bit...
I've used this method for ages now, especially on those pesky McFarlanes that keep falling apart. I just repaired one whose head had fallen off.
Drill a whole in the head and the torso. Not too deep.
Put the screw in the head, screw it in tight.
Then Dremel off the screw to the right length, I'd say leave half an inch, removing the head of the screw.
Now you can screw it into the torso, until head and shoulders come together.
This way, you can still move the head left to right, and it will NEVER fall off again.Last edited by Gorn Captain; Sep 27, '13, 3:57 AM..
