does anyone know how to repalce a 12" knee pin? they won't pop in

Hey guys, i'm trying to replace the 12" knee pins from my KISS figures and I cannot for the life of me get them to pop in place, these are the Doc mego pins...is there a trick to this? I don't want to damage the actual leg in the process..thanx

I've been struggling with replacing 12" Kirk and Spock knee pins with Doc's repros for about a week now. I've tried pliers, vice grips, super glue--nothing's working. That resin (or whatever they're made of) seems super glue proof. I've been worrying about messing up the knee, so I wrapped it in a napkin, but nothing's working for me. They go together fine outside the knee, but they just won't click together for me for anything. You're not alone!

no experience here....but just a thought, have you tried putting the pins in hot water for a bit to soften them a bit before trying to pop them together? not sure if that even works with resin

I've had nothing but success with pliers. Granted I do put masking tape on the pinchers to prevent scratches.

I have done 8" knee pins like this before so it should work for 12" too. The kneepins are countersunk so you need something about the same diameter as them, put one on the bottom like in the picture.I needs to be touching the pin only and not the leg. Then take a bolt/wooden dowel or whatever and hold it on the other side of the pin and give it a rap with the hammer. It would probably be easier if someone held the leg down and in place while you hit the bolt/wooden dowel with the hammer.

I have heard that the 12" knee pins are designed for the skinny body leg. The muscle body leg is the teensiest bit thicker at the knee. I have to wonder if maybe sanding down the flat spot where the two sides meet just the tiniest bit may not work the trick...Never tried and I don't do the 12" Megos, just a thought...

If that didn't work,it has to be a problem with the pin.Either try a different one or like Megotu suggested a little sanding.Check the pin, maybe it has a little excess flashing that needs sanded on it and the inner bushing part too.Just sand a little bit at a time, try it.If you sand too much the leg will be loose, but eventually that will work.

yea guys it has to be that it doesn't fit, the pins look pretty much the same...but I might have to try the sanding down...I've tried with 3 different sets of pins and none work

has anyone else actually have luck with the 12" bodies? like the KISS ones
