    Customizers: Do you sketch ?

How are you at drawing? Do you do it often?
I ususally just draw what I am going to sculpt. Like a visual shopping list.

I have tried to draw but it usully comes out too flat. I did a few nice pieces in school but I didnt enjoy it and it was too much work.
Drawing and sculpting are so similar it's what I would choose if I had to trade off sculpting.

Voluminously. In fact, I have dozens more customs planned than I ever commission.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

I used to. No time now, and I get frustrated because I am out of practice. If I sketch something it's only for seam placement, so I know how to cut out the fabric.

An old sketch from the 90s:

On occasion I sketch, but I mostly do computer graphics now, especially at work.

Used to do it all the time when I was young, single, and bar-hopping. (GREAT way to break the ice with the ladies, plus get free hooch from the bartenders!)
"It's sad that governments are chiefed by the double tongues. There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life."

I used to draw all the time. I use the computer more now for blueprints and orthographic views. I like drawing technology more tho like spaceships. Here are some examples from my Facebook album.

Tom Baker from The Deadly Assassin. Pencil. John Pertwee & Roger Delgado. Ink/Marker.

Sutekh & Koquillion,(?). These 2 are thumbnails. The actual sketches are about the size of your thumb or smaller. Pencil.

Anyone can draw. You can too. Just figure out how to approach your subject matter.

I draw sometimes for fun, but for designing customs I usually just wing it. If I planned out too far in advance I don't think I would be surprised and it wouldn't be as much fun.

Great Job on those sketches, Sandy!

I showed this a while back here on the MEGO forum, but I do a little sketching too...

This is a portrait of the two principal actors from my graduate thesis student film from about 16 years ago.

I... am an action figure customizer

Lot of talented folks here at the Mego Museum! I, like Sandy said, like to sketch and draw every day! I do it more then I do any other art form. As of late I use more markers to finish them off in color, here is my favorite pencil drawings I have done:

here was a solo Kermit I did in preparation to the above drawing that I turned green in photoshop:

And here is a recent Finished Marker Drawing:

and one more Muppet to round us out:

No body takes pot shots at Lubic! Good Journey
