    Dress Shirt Pattern?

I think I've seen this requested before, but I could be wrong.

If anyone could help me I'd be very grateful!

Ach. I've been amassing a pattern library for years but I haven't gotten to a dress shirt yet. :\

I had requested one, and it looks like I'm still on my own. I was told to take a basic jumpsuit, cut the bottom off, and use it backwards, leaving a little overlap. Then the collar could be added at the top. I'm still trying to get one to look right for the custom I was working on when I first made that post. Are you putting a jacket over the shirt? If so, another option is to make a "dickey" like the Kojack figure wore. It's kind of a v-shaped piece of fabric that goes down over the figure's chest. The tips of the V wrap around the neck, closing with a snap. You can add a tie, collar, and whatever else you want. I'm trying that, because my custom wears a vest, and having another shirt underneath makes it bulky. I'm still experimenting, so it I come up with anything else I'll post pics.
Hey! Where's the waiter with the water for my daughter?

        Check out my customs!

Thanks - I'd love to see that del!

I've been experimenting with creating a pattern based on a Doc Mego Secret Identities shirt. I want the sleeves and collar to fit a little more realistically so I'm trying to modify it a bit.

I did one up last night, and it looks great except for one little problem - it doesn't come close to actually fitting! Sigh.

I'll work on it a bit tonight and post some pics of what I got so far. I'd like to get some feedback!

Okay - after LOTS of trial and error I reverse engineered and modified a Doc Mego alter ego shirt and I think I came up with a pattern I'm pretty happy with.

The main differences between this and the alter ego shirt are that it doesn't have separate pieces for the cuffs (I couldn't be bothered) and both sides of the collar meet in the front, like on a real dress shirt. (In the photo it's apart a bit, but that's 'cus he doesn't have a head or tie yet.)

Also, the sleeves are a little bit longer so the cuffs can be seen under the jacket sleeves a bit. "Pop your cuffs" as Paulie Walnuts says!

My sewing skills stink, and I'm not really sure how to draw up patterns - but here it is if someone else wants to give it a try! If you have any corrections or suggestions please let me know and I'll adjust the file.

Also, if someone wants a higher res PDF or AI file, let me know!

you didn't put any dimensions on diagram to verify the right size when printed out.

Oh - I didn't know that was necessary! Does it help that the sheet is exactly 8.5 X 11?

Okay - I've updated the file with a scale for inches and cms.

Please let me know if you have any other suggestions!

I never had a pattern for the dress shirt - a seamtress made me some suits
based on the alter-egos and they were send off to China to duplicate.

I think you will be better served using some type of stretch material for
your shirts instead of cotton or linen. That way you will have some give
                      when putting them on.

                        Hey Doc!

You're so right. Most of the altering of the design and trial and error of the process was to get a non-stretchy material to fit well because I find it a lot easier to sew.

Your shirts are fantastic, but for a few customs I have in mind I wanted the collar to fit a bit more realistically, and I wanted the sleeves lengthened.

For Two-Face, Dave McCormick completely redesigned the suit,
but when working on Frankenstein, we found that the new jacket
made Frank look too good(?) and we went back to the original
                          MEGO jacket.
