Thank you Tothiro for posting the images, just what i needed. from the fact file you can see he looks like a nude Mego body except for coverings at the joints , so i just need a tail flap and a head to have him ready to go. the same for the Doom Patrol copper one. they would look stark next to clothed Mego's but the characters do stand out in the comics as looking quite different as well.

It's funny, that fact file page has the other 2 characters i recently finished as well. ( yes i need to get photo's up here, one day) I think i'll try one just paint and the other a suit and then let y'all vote how they look.

sorry but i hated when the Doom Patrol went dark and Robotman started wearing those clothes. i stopped reading it then. i love the classic and even the beginning of new relaunch in the 80's.

I also love the large cast shot Tothiro posted as that's my guide for figures to make from the 40's. i'm going to try for all of those but the magical ones. i never liked those characters. I have 11 out of 38 of them done and need emblems for my Supes and Bats.

I would just use a suited body, possibly shiny orange, or copper,(Which I believe Mr. Leitner turns out) and add the details (chest bolts, circuits, etc) by sculpting them in plastic, or using buttons, and gluing them onto the suit. The other details can be handled using ribbon trim, and even drawing fine details on the suit with fabric paint. I'm thinking Mego Iron Man, That would be a great source of reference for you. Good luck!

In my humble opinion, if you can, raise the bar: Enough of that 'how Mego would...' stuff. What about some 'how Hot Toys would make it' these days...? Go to your local store and get a glimpse of the marvelous metallic fabrics available for half a buck in this 21st century. Once you get that right, all you need is a decent head sculpt, a couple of resin-casted add-ons (for the shoulders, sleeves, knees, collar, and wherever a metallic 'joint' might show up) and you have greater chances to be able to reach the pantheon of customizer gods, once this character is done.

Then, again, you can paint the body and use crayola colored stuff, markers, or felt, or something even less appealing, thus letting the chance for immortality pass you...

          >JSA style linked image from the DC line

Say; something like THAT wouldn't be too tough to do. You could use a printed bodysuit under a chest piece. (And make the chestpiece out of thin plastic, or craft foam.)

The best thing about this one is that you don't have to worry about the robot body (maybe the arms if you go the sleeveless jacket route). Stick him in a jacket, some pants and boots.
I didnt follow DC untill recentlly but that image SCREAMS 90's!
