A couple of things: a kilt is only pleated in the back, and it should only come down to his knees. Great start, though.

Aw crap. I actually meant to do it that way, but I got going ironing those pleats, and kind of forgot to stop. I know it's a little long - I had mentioned that I had to hem it up. Depending on what kind of fabric I use, I could probably just use Fray-check so the bottom doesn't get bulky.Hey! Where's the waiter with the water for my daughter?

How big were the Big Jim figures? Those boots are really nice. I don't think that shirt would have enough fabric to make a Mego kilt, once you put the pleats in the back, especially if you do the one that gets draped over the shoulder.Hey! Where's the waiter with the water for my daughter?

I have that Big Jim shirt in my clothes bag. It's too small to make a decent kilt out of, as you guessed. I did however find this today at work:
