    Starsky and Hutch customs?

Never had them as a kid, but was considering getting them now. They are pretty easy to pick up.

I would definately customize them though.

Starsky always had a beat up leather jacket. He also had the blue Adidas sneakers. The issued figure, I believe, has only brown shoes.

Hutch also was fond of leather as well, would get one of those tan car coats to put on him.

The Torino that Mego made was pretty poor, I don't know what I'd do with that.

    Has anyone customised these figures?

It's something I have always wanted to do. My mate has Hutch in a baseball jacket which looks good. I'm sure a variation on the originals wouldn't be too difficult using CTVT or Doc Mego clothing.
We need granny to knit a cardigan for Starsky.

I found some guy on Ebay who makes custom leather jackets. I got a light tan one for Hutch and a black leather one off CTVT's for Starksy. It really makes them look at lot better.
Plus I picked up tennis shoes from CTVTs for Starsky and put black cowboy boots on Hutch. Mego lacked "the look" for Starsky and Hutch and I just basically upgraded mine with a few pieces.

Years ago on the "Levy List" there was a female collector who did S&H customs, different outfits mostly but she also gave Hutch his fourth season moustache.

I did a custom of Hutch with a potsie jacket on looked better than his vest.
Also a fonzie jacket on Starsky. Not much really but still looked more tv accurate.

As you wish. If you are "signed in" to the MM, click on the pictures and they will blow up to the original size so you can see everything bigger.

              All four seasons

Hutch in new custom leather jacket (somebody on eBay did it) and Starsky is wearing a CTVT's black leather

All 100% Mego except the leather jackets and shoes....

I plan to replace the western guns with some black modern looking guns. I think Doc has those on his site. I need to order some...

David Soul once said he has an attic full of these figures. Some never opened...

                    Starsky needs the right sweater.

That sweater only made its run in the first season on some of the early episodes.
They preimered Starsky wearing that sweater and some goofy stocking hat and if you watch the show it really does not work. It is hard to take Starsky serious as he is running around in that goofy thing.

As the shows continued to increase in popularity they gave Starsky a tougher background giving his deceased father ties with the Mafia and his "tough guy" brother that guest starred and later giving Starsky a leather jacket..

The sweater also made an appearance on a 1st season episode as well.

Are you referring to the really horrible pilot that featured a different Captain Dolby? Some black dude with a really horrible voice that you could barely understand him? Starsky and Hutch almost didn't get off the ground because of that bad pilot. They put the pilot in with the first season sets of dvds so you can watch. It is bad. (Well not as bad as the episode in season three with the vampire. )

Thankfully they gave the show a thumbs up and changed some cast members around and brought in Bernie Hamilton as Captain Dolby. Smart move!
(I would kill to get my hands on a complete Captain Dolby Mego. One that isn't all messed up)

Well the episode you are referring to with the vampire was in season 2 with John Saxton.

The 1 and only regular season 1 episode that he wore the sweater on was the one with Jan Smithers, who played "Bailey" on WKRP in Cincinnati. This is, after the pilot movie where he wore it also.

We have one set of Starsky and Hutch we customized in terms of jackets.

We put a beat up WWII brown bomber jacket on Starsky from some in scale line of figures that I cannot remember, and we got a letterman jacket from Jakks's Frank Stallone figure from their Rocky line for Hutch.

They look pretty ok for a quick and dirty custom job.
