I would like to see just how detailed the end product is. Not enough to fork out the money. From what I've seen so far, I'm wondering how much is sculpted and how much is color. I've yet to see one profile view.
Say someone order this and had plans to cast it, only to find out that the head scupt is almost feature-less and most the features are just in the color. Sort of a shaped 2-D image.

And BINGO was his name-O. It's a generic head that's printed on. That's what I've found out from the digging I'm done. Also talking to a buddy of my mine who owns a print shop, it's most likely a polyester resin coating on a blank that the ink is "shot" on to, so yeah no real detail.

Still it would make a great gift for somebody in the office that you don't like enough to invest the time to do a custom sculpt. Think about it, for a hundred bucks you can have your bosses head blasted on a head, then you can easily dress him in the nazi uniform just like the one you know he keeps in his closet.

I contacted them by phone because they are in Beaverton which is like fifteen miles from where I live. I was all excited because I thought I had a close contact for custom sculpts. But not to be. I've been trying for YEARS to get some sculpts of Peter Parker and some of the other characters he hangs out with. They have to be in the Romita style!

I recall another company doing this, their site had a demo so you could take pics with your webcam and get an idea what the finished product would look like. I remember it being cheaper too.

Yeah, I worked for a company (that is now out of business) and we were trying to utilize this technology.

They are able to make a 3d model from two photos. The software projects the photo image onto a generic 3D head (not completely generic, however. The eyes and nose and mouth all line up in the right place based on measurements of the photo.) and the pixelation you're seeing is probably because the photos where low res.

Anyway, this file gets printed out on a 3d color printer. All of the detail is from the color. If you were to mold and cast the head, it would be lacking in wrinkles, dimples, etc. It's still a cool idea, however.
Expectation is the death of discovery.

Yeah, I saw one on Ebay a few weeks ago and looked at the site. But decided I really don't want a copy of my head done.

Still, this dude is cheaper than Ada Chan, who charges in the triple digits for a custom head done in 1:6 scale.

If I was gonna do this I'd rather pay more for quality than go the cheap way and get crap for it

I tried to go to the place in Beaverton and look around at their showroom. Not quite. No showroom, and no real place of business. Like I said, they farm the stuff out to have it done. I sure wouldn't get one if I can't even see what they make for real. They should include some pics in their feedback. Just because two people liked theirs doesn't mean they are cool or look good.

When I first saw this, I thought those Andgor Toys guys had come back from the dead to rip off a whole new group of people. This sounds like a completely different crew.
