EMCE Toys attempted to revive the vintage POTA line like they did the Mego Star Trek line, but the response wasn't as strong with the buying public. The fan base for POTA just isn't as large and intense as that of Trek and it's difficult to sell enough vintage style figures to keep the line going, so these 4 may be all we see, only time will tell. All are reproductions of original Mego figures. Diamond only had the rights to the movie, so characters like Urko could not be included in this line. There was no attempt made to create an Astronaut character.
We have a forum for Diamond Planet of the Apes where you can be kept up to date and get your questions answered by some of the very people who worked on these toys.
If your interested in the differences between vintage Mego and these reissues, please visit the Mego Museum Accessory Check section for detailed comparisions of every factory reproduced part.
