It's a predictable, knee jerk reaction based on the Avengers summer box office but let's not get our hopes up. This has a strong chance of being stuck in development hell.

      This would be my curiousity-

"What remains to be seen is whether or not Warner's film will use any of their standalone superhero projects as jumping off points, building a cohesive cinematic universe the way that Marvel has."

I wouldn't mind seeing a JLA movie and some of SHH's choices for players are good, but some not so good. I'd much rather see Nathan Fillion as Hal Jordan, for example, rather than as Steve Trevor. I also think that putting in ALL the heavy hitters at one time would likely overwhelm the typical filmgoer who, by now, are extremely familiar with the DC trinity of Superman, Batman and WW.

I think since GL has had a movie, it would be good to include him as well, along with The Flash and probably the Martian Manhunter. I think that Aquaman and Green Arrow, though, would almost have to be backburned to cameos introduced in a "Phase II" capacity.

Regarding vilains, Darkseid is, of course, the obvious choice, but, like Thanos, I think he needs to hinted at in a first film and then brought to prominence in a third film once the JLA's roster is complete. Doomsday is really too much of a Superman solo villain for me to see him as an adversary for the JL (although he would pose a large enough threat certainly).

Perhaps the writers could come up with some planetary threat large enough to pull all the heroes together (such as the events in Justice League: New Frontiers) or they could just have them joining forces to track down a crazed and dangerous Martian Manhunter prior to his joining the team....
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

It would be really smart to plant seeds of this in the upcoming Superman movie.

I thought the same of Green Lantern, I was assuming the inclusion of Amanda Waller was a good sign. She was pretty much a wasted character in it though.

Warner Brothers has a history of taking years to make movies based on comic book characters they already own. Superman and Batman had long term developments before the first movies were ever made and they are DCs most famous characters.

I'd love to see a JLA film but leave Darkseid out of it for now. Too obvious to comic fans. I'd rather see a film version of the Legion of Doom. Most of the US public is aware of them from the old Super Friends show. Or better yet, have something hint at the Multiverse. Maybe the Crime Syndicate? DC needs to think big. This could even lead to a JSA movie set in WW2.

I agree, plus Marvel wisely used stand-alone movies to introduce moviegoers to the characters first.
If WB dumps a JL movie on the public without any character development first, it'll be a disaster.

DC can't even make up it's mind whether Superman should have red drawers or if the Green Lantern would get in them. I have no confidence they can pull off a Justice League film even remotely as good as the Avengers. DC does not understand their product.

Unless they get Wallace Shawn to play Batman, it'll never be a total disaster. It may not be a masterpiece but it'd get butts in seats.

The three biggest guns of Justice League, Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman have a better public awareness than any member of the Avengers (well, maybe The Hulk is an exception) so if WB dumped a JL movie it's not like the public would be clueless.

I agree. If it's done well, the characters can be explained in the film itself. Look how many James Bond films were made before and kind of origin story came out.

They would have been better off doing a World's Finest movie first

If they hire the guys from the animated shows to produce it it might have a chance. They understand the characters. DC has wasted them by not bumping them up to live action projects.
