Wrong people involved from the start.

If Nolan is not involved, then you're heading down the scary path called Green Lantern Road.

I have a bad feeling about this movie and very little faith.

However...if they were to get Nolan involved(at least as a producer), then get Bale for BATMAN...and Tom Welling for SUPERMAN I'd be on board.

It needs to built up IMO. Not as much as the Avengers but if the next Superman movie works, and they get Cavill/Bale there would be some level of anticipation. The Avengers wasn't just a hit not just because it was the Avengers but because they built to it. I don't think just trotting it out would have as much buzz.

I think they should use that lineup from that JLA TPB I read
about 15 years ago.... YEAR ONE, right? Waid?

              Reboot Supes.

              Reboot Batman.

At the same time, quick track a HAL JORDAN led JLA AQUAMAN,
BLACK CANARY, FLASH, MARTAIN MANHUNTER movie...

....that way they don't have to worry so much about the HOLY TRINITY
right away... they can lead up to recruiting the "big 3".

At the same time, skipping out on solo movies for those B-listers
might be a smart move at this point.... which is another positive
              about the lieup i suggested.

Nolan has already stated that his Batman and the new Superman do not reside in the same universe. So doubt it would be Bale and Cavill.

The Big 3 alone could bring in a huge audience without the everyday movie goer kowing the backstory of the other 4 main JLA'ers. You could then go and make 4 other movies showing they're origins and a good character story for each. Basically go the reverse of Marvel because the big 3 are already household names.

If the right dollar sign is wagged at the right time, a statement like that becomes void.

Raimi seemed to value his job too much to stick to his artistically based
rule of only classic villains when faced with a studio ultimatum.

That'd be a box office factor but not crucial... group superhero movies
have already proven themselves successful out of the gate with B-list, or lower rosters with no prior solo movie to establish them in pop culture. (WATCHMEN, X-MEN)

And that went so well for the Spidey franchise.

If you're assuming that it'd be the same kind of financially damaging mistake, well, there's no promise of that.

And before Spiderman 3's release it was the same deal.... no "definites".

the RESULT is up in the air... so the only point I meant to be made,
is that people change their minds no matter what a previous
                          press release says.

^^^ There's no argument that Welling did a great job as Clark in Smallville. The show's success speaks to that. But translating that to a big screen venture that is intended to compete with the Avengers might be too much of a stretch. People don't want to pay for something that feels like a television show on the big screen. Personally I think he would do a good job, but I think the general public would be less receptive to an established TV personality in a big budget film.

If they are truly going to go forward with this, and I have serious doubts, I'd like to see a group if unknowns cast. They need to develop an identity of their own and see where it goes/grows. Hemsworth got his start as George Kirk for eight screentime minutes and his talent took over. If you're going to begin a franchise with a group movie, preconceived notions about established actors taking on iconic roles will blur the lines of potential success.

Now, with the Cavill Supes movie coming they might have to retain him. Bale, while great in the Nolan-verse, would not translate into a group setting and might prove to be a distraction.
