You're lucky you got the Trek figures. I asked for a Lt. Uhura doll one Christmas, and never got her.

I had to wait until I was in my 40's to get my hands on the repro.

No, sorry, you are both wrong! It was me!
But honestly, I dreamt of this as a kid ever since I first saw Battlestar Galactica. I had the Mego 8" Star Trek figures (which really was something special, as they were hard to find over here. Mattel's Big Jim had the monopoly for action figures over here in those days), and wanted BSG figures to go along with them.
Plus we didn't even have those junky Mattel 3 3/4" BSG figures. For some reason, they never have seem to make it to the European continent.
So, after over 30 years, please make that happen!

Yeah, I'll second that... or even THIRD that.
That line that would do very well.
'Sides, I 've always felt Mattel 'missed the boat' with this line with their releases back in '79-80.
Heck, you could sign me up for a 1/9 scale Raider!
    How cool would that be?

It's been a while since anyone has posted in this thread, so I'm going to put in more of my two cents worth.

I definitely believe that this would be a moneymaker for ZICA.

I happen to belong to a costuming group that is BSG based, and yes it's the original, not the GINO, and I will float the idea by them to see if anyone of them is interested.

And I KNOW that there are a LOT more fans of the show that are out there than just the members of the forum.

A toy's popularity is mostly based on profit, isn't it?

If, and I do mean 'if', there are enough of us that really, REALLY want this, we can make it happen, can't we?

I know that Craig is up to his little eyeballs with the Buck Rogers line, and I am already down for Buck and Tigerman.

But I'd LOVE to see Apollo, Starbuck, Adama, a few Cylons, Athena, Cassie, Boomer, and maybe, juuuuust maybe, a 1:9 scale Viper.

i really like the accessories that they came with. i think they were done very well. apollo was decent but starbuck could have been better.

The line is dead in the water, at least for now. I am very sad to see that this line will not continue. I was blown away by the new sculpts and seeing the whole setup at ToyFair 08 was a real highlight for me.
Surprisingly, the Majestic Apollo and Starbuck are actually pretty decent with a repaint. I'll post pix when i get them all together.

so will the figures be released again? i definitely think the majjestic adama was the best out of them all but unfortunately, i'm not a big adama fan. would really love a new sculpt of starbuck the one released looked nothing like dirk benedict.

There was never a rerelease on Starbuck and Apollo. Majestic released the regular figures and Amoktime was selling off the overstock from the Majestic run of figures. Amoktime did rerelease the Cylons with a few modifications. The plan was to release the new figures and then come back and do improved sculpts for Apollo and Starbuck. AT was satisfied with the Majestic Adama, but we were planning to do a sculpt to try and convience them it could be improved. I believe they wanted to do Baltar, Sheba and more, but there were some issues with the actors/estates that caused them to be excluded from the first planned wave.

The Apollo and Starbuck were basically just Majestic's version re-released. There were plans to offer more accurate sculpts as the new figures were offered but instead the whole line died.

I may have mentioned this already, so if I have, let me know.

I have the Starbuck and Apollo figures from Amok Time.

The sculpts, while somewhat accurate, are very bland looking.

The articulation is nice, but the overall effect is somewhat stiff.

The helmet and blasters are cool, and very accurate, but everything else kinda falls flat.

Majestic started them off with Apollo, Starbuck, silver and gold Cylon and Adamo, then went out of business. Amok Time wanted to pick up the ball, made a big fuss, simply re-released a couple of them (with only the tiniest of tweaks), then went silent again, though they had made Boomer and Athena prototypes. Face sculpts were OK, but not fantastic.
Somebody please do this line justice!
They made prototypes of Boomer, Athena, Tigh and Cain. And they were quite good having been sculpted by some of the best in the biz. The problem was everyone clamored that they WANTED them but no one bellied up to the bar and placed enough preorders to make it a worthwhile investment. An utter shame as I am DYING to have the rest of the 1:6 BSG in my collection.

    I say this from experience.

Some like it, some hate it.....actually its more like LOVE or absolutely DETEST!

I'll have to remember that so as not to stir any pots. lol.

I personally like both versions equally. Both have merit and a place in my heart. I think I just grew to know the new ones better as I became obsessed with it from week to week for close to 5 years.
