What are painted heads?

the last few series EMCE put out for Trek had rotocast heads, just like normal, but they were completely painted. meaning even the flesh color on the face. most did not like how that looked -
A lot of people don't like them, I'm not sure there has even been a consensus to suggest a majority. I personally didn't even know what people were talking about until some complained.
I could care less about them obviously and have bought many, don't bug me.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

I think the big issue is that they are not faithful to the original Mego unpainted flesh-toned heads, and also that they have a shiny, waxy look to them.
If I can, I'll see if I can post some comparison photos...

I prefer the ones cast in flesh color, but I didn't mind how Picard turned out, for example..

yeah, Picard did not look to bad and the Salt vampire and Borg being aliens did not look bad. Pike was terrible. I bought them anyway but did not get an extra Pike to open and display because of itComment

I've seen some painted flesh tones that work pretty good, but my preference will always be to have them cast in color for the Mego approach. Now I do like the NECA hybrids, but then again they are a combination of figure styles so they don't play on an apples to apples scale with my expectations. If it's something that will stand with my WGSH line, I like them to share similar qualities. I don't hate them by no stretch, but it is a consideration if I'm on the fence.Comment
