My LCS still has their Captain America set too. The owner told me a few people have looked at it and thought it looked cheap, mainly because of the stars.
Why EMCE didn't take the opportunity to improve on the originals like FTC did and make the stars an iron-on is beyond me.
Even a really good sticker would have looked better than that sewn on star with the loose points. You can't even tell it's sewn on from a distance. It just looks like it's falling off.

I hope they don't do any females because I could only imagine how bad they will look. My favorite local comic shop did'nt order Wolverine and he still has the other sets collecting dust. I have no faith in any future products from these guys but I hope they prove me wrong.
That is one the problems.Just because 10 guys here bought one of any of these sets does not mean these are selling or they are a success.Already a comic shop has bailed out (and many more to follow).Thor has yet to be solicited too.C2E2 they didn't show anything new.If these sets don't sell,ALL those plans to make more figures gets thrown out the door

The heart may have been in these to get made, but the execution/design on these are terrible

No hatred here. Just legitimate issues with these sets being discussed.

I was of course doing that joking thing I do, but I do always see the same people busting on the same stuff. I get it you don't like it. If they were as cynical about customs, we'd all stop making them.

ahh, there are some that would go on churning them out no matter what.

Honestly, cynicism plays no part in it, MK. If anything, it's the opposite. People are repeatedly pointing out the same scale and fabrication concerns, because those concerns continue to appear.

Most fans and collectors will hold a factory-produced item, which has the benefit of professional designers and modern manufacture, to at least the standards or comparison of what has gone before (Mego, Famous Covers, CTVT, and Retro-action).

Customs are inherently different-- amateur and a single creative interpretation.

I played around with Logan today and am quite happy with him. Here is a group shot.

So 2 of the 3 versions look good. Logan jeans are nicely detailed, but gap a bit at the waist. I used the body that came with the set for Logan, since the skin tone is odd, none of my other bodies matched.

In the book that came with it, Joe talks about popping the claws on and off the hands, but the final version seems to have them glued in. That is probably why the gloved version didn't have and hands, since the clawed version don't fit and the claws now don't come off. In the pre-order photo for the set, the claws are shown separate from the hands.

Two out of three look great, but the other one is a total disaster.

IMO, A RM wolverine mask would have been better-effected by a Hawkman-style "helmet". True, this would have left an uncovered neck, but the overall effect would be better. The current cowl is as clunky as Mattel's Batman cowl was. As to the chunky gloves, why this is done Famous Covers-style when other elements of the same DS sets use thinner rubber is a mystery to me. To insist on vinyl at all is confusing, since both FTC and DM/Emce have used the traditional plastic in other manufacturing.

If you're willing to sacrifice the brown set, repainting the head and hands will yield a nice classic Wolverine...you'll still need to add blue cuffs, maybe CTVT sells some. (I'm sure Emce is not crazy about that.) But at $80 a set, should any sacrificing be needed?--regardless of the package enclosures, these are not marketed as customizing sets.

This set is a set-back IMO. Wolverine was chosen by DST, as with R2 Captain Action, for his "modern" appeal. The result is not very appealing.

As to the missing hands, I say, "Shame on you, DST." That is flat-out cheap and shady. It doesn't speak well of your integrity.
