Yeah, I gotta agree with the naysayers on this one. This is NOT what I would have asked or wished for from new Marvel Megos. I have never been sold on the costume set idea, which is why I've stopped buying Captain Action, and likely won't be buying most of these. I know I won't be getting the Spidey set, and I'll just have to see what comes in the other sets. At $80 PLUS having to invest another $15 to $20 for extra bodies it is not affordable for me. Others are happy with it, and that's great. I hope they're a success.Comment

I think I said this before... These are being offered up on sights right now for $69.99 even if you had to pay for 2 extra Doc Mego bodies at another $10 that's $79.99 almost what 3 figures from FTC would run you...Comment

People don't seem to understand... These sets will be 1 body, 3 heads and 3 costumes. That's it. That's what the deal is all about. No motorcycles, no accessories, no anything else. If you invest in buying another two Doc Mego (or other) repro bodies then you can assemble the other two heads and suits and get 3 figures.
Again, 1 body, 3 heads and 3 costumes = $80. If you can pay it, you get it, if not look something else. This is for collectors not kids. Dr. Mego and Diamond team up and score a wonderful Mego offering for us, Mego collectors, and here you have people whining and trying to kill the project...You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment

"Whiny haters who want to kill the project"? That's absurd.
It's called market capitalism. Buy what you like & can afford.
DM & DST will produce what they think will appeal to a niche market and within the "confines of the license."
It's worth remembering that Mattel RetroAction was imperiled by design & distribution concerns, not niche disinterest.WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.Comment

With this line, I can more easily see why people are complaining: The price. The pricepoint alone dictates that a lot of people aren't going to be satisfied.
Personally, I can't justify the $80 price point because I don't like the 2nd Spidey costume. IMO it's awful, the head is terribly mis-shaped and the web-slinging mechanism and belt both look hokey as hell.
Having said that, if they nail the Mego versions of Thor and Iron Man, I would probably be in for those.Comment

Not to split hairs, but it's gonna be more than that. I always factor in shipping and tax on this stuff. So from Entertainment Earth the total is $85.19 for me. Docs bodies are $7/piece (the muscle bodies are $5, but I don't care for those) and any order from Doc includes $7/shipping, that's another $21. Grand total of $106.19 for three figures. If I went with Type S bodies, it'd be even more. That's nearly as much as a complete set of Batman 66 figures, with shipping.Comment

You can get a minty original Spidey for $100 bucks even if you get it from benbarb. I just can't see it. Now for Thor or another figure where the original Mego figure costs well north of $100 loose and minty, the $80-$100 for the set of 3 makes more sense. But for the Spidey set, the math doesn't work as well.Comment

The circle-suit Spidey does nothing for me cause I had the 'regular' one as a kid. In fact the circle-suit makes me less likely to buy the set for that very reason.
I can understand why they went that route, given the market, but it won't make the set more appealing to all of that market, and to some it will actually make it less appealing.Comment

That's an optional thing. You don't HAVE to swap out the FTC bodies.Comment

We can go back and forth on this forever. The point being that the concept of the Marvel "sets" as they are, doesn't work for some of us "collectors." For me it mainly boils down to the extra costumes idea. I simply don't like it. At $20 less per set I still wouldn't like it.Last edited by Iron Mego; May 24, '14, 7:37 PM.Comment
