Although I watched the movies as a kid for some reason I never got heavily into the Apes Megos and I have no idea why. I think I had Dr. Zaius and I skipped the rest...I know I would have wanted the generals but never bought them, so maybe I was turned off by the costumes or head sculpts not resembling the movie version?

I'd love a Re-Mego line of Apes if they were done accurately, with uniforms that matched the original movie. Now that I'm jumping back into the hobby I have an EMCE Zaius on the way and I'll probably get a Cornelius and a Zira but I'm not tempted to pick up the soldier ape, as the face sculpt lacks detail. I'd love an Urko/Ursus, but not in the original Mego outfit. If NECA or whoever did one where his helmet is black as it should be and his uniform is correct and he isn't smiling (check out the original Mego--he's smiling!) I'd definitely grab one. At the moment I'm salivating over the Hot Toys Apes figures--they're works of art. Not willing to spend $400 on the aftermarket for a 12" doll though.

He's right, I still have the set of four EMCE POTA from 2008. Very disappoint is they can't making the next new ones!!

I'm glad they didn't overdo the articulation.
It spoils the look and flow of the clothes.
And what we will do, is get the figure out, use the articulation during about five minutes (tops), and then never move that figure again.

Not a huge fan of the format but I think a 3 3/4 POA line would be awesome

I think EMCE's apes would have really taken off if NEW characters were mixed in. Too bad it ended when it did, they were perfect.

I never had any Mego POTA growing up, and I missed out on the re-Mego versions. I would be first in line to buy new POTA 8inch Megos if NECA would only make them. Since they feel there is already the retro versions "out there", I'd be happy to get modern sculpting like DST's Universal Monsters.

I'm liking the Soldier Ape, the other two not so much. Zaius looks resigned & defeated, and the length of neck & droop of shoulders on Cornie looks...corny.

They look to be articulated at the ankles, knees, hips (look at Zaius), waist (swivel only?), neck (turn only?), shoulders, elbows, and wrists. Seems the sculpt is meant hide the obvious movements, which is pretty cool approach. Of course, this may in fact impede the range of movement as well.

    Hummels be damned! :P

It's a shame Fox is so narrow minded. I mean if they had allowed you to do figures for the other movies and the TV show,I'd imagine they'd sell pretty well.

Is this even three points of articulation? def in the category of "Nerd Hummel". sits nicely on the shelf to display.
