What about Buck? 25th Century wish list.

Sure, everyone loves Galactica. So many companies have had the license over the years, there’s a ton of stuff out there. At the top of the heap was Joyride’s Cylon and the ships. Galactica fans can be happy. I’m actually a bit disenchanted with Emce’s figures, for picky reasons like the Cylon’s shoulders aren’t broad enough, their hands too small, and Muffit just looks weird.

I love what Zica is doing with the Six Million Dollar Man… just bums me out that they sold the Buck license. And isn’t Buck much more fun than Galactica? I mean really? I appreciate that Zica got in over their heads to provide two of the best figures ever – Buck and Tigerman (and how awesome was their planned HAWK?!) - I just wish it continued way into their new 3 ¾” format.

Buck fans have been robbed practically from the beginning of really good product!

What I would love to see:

A 10 to 16” CRICHTON figure with lights and sounds. How easy would it be to sculpt? Hell, he used to be a cheap prop on the show before they turned him into a character! An extending neck, tilting head and sliding arms and sound bytes of his wry temperament… please don’t tell me I’m the only one that would love this.

A 10” to full size Dr. Theo with lights and sounds. Wouldn’t this be relatively inexpensive to make also?

Any size Twiki with light and sounds – I can see this being expensive to produce. But I don’t know s**t about making toys.

A 3 ¾ line that includes obscure characters like the Gorgon, Marla Landers, Twiki’s girlfriend the Gold waitress drone, and of course a Huer, Wilma & Ardala that actually remotely resemble them (unlike Mego’s).

I don’t suppose there’s much chance of all this happening, but thanks for reading this silly rant!

    I feel your pain.
The Buck Rogers ZICA adventure was a long and hard fight, believe me, ZICA tried as hard as possible to make it work. If you read the whole back story in the threads that cover it, you'll find out all about it. Craig didn't have a lot of choice.

I still think a full size Twiki (just a hollow shell with some lights in it), is something that could be made in the future. It wouldn't be inexpensive, but still affordable if they don't go overboard with the electronics. I'd love one!

Btw, BBP has the Galactica licence, not EMCE...

      Thanks Gorn Captain.
I just did some research here. It's still a little vague, but I see the ZICA BR line basically under-performed and the license now belongs to DST.
I probably should have posted this originally in the Zica forum... sorry... headed there now...

      Thanks for the BBP correction!

        No problem.
ZICA Buck Rogers was (and still is) a big favorite of mine. The quality of those figures is stunning.

That Buck Rogers line remains one of the best quality figure lines ever released in this scale. The detail is amazing. Craig raised the bar for everyone in the industry.

Ya know Craig made an unbelievable pair of figures, had awesome future releases and promoted it to the heavens... Diamond has had his body and the license for sometime and have done nothing with it... Now I know you fellas like it, and I do too...

But I gotta figure maybe it's just not that strong of a license...

            Just a thought...

It May Not have Been a strong enough License but i would Bought figures from it for years. All main cast and recurring characters and guest star aplenty.
Yes, a Crichton and the rest of the Searcher Crew would be must buys. How aout all the Sexy lady guest stars?
Unfortunetly i think his price was just outside everyone's range and tha fact that the first wave was all guys and 3 of them Draconians.
Plus they had to sell well to get a Wilma and Twiki and Ardala was probably just not encouraging enough after the Flash Gordon 2 Figures was all we got there.
"Hang on Lady... We go for a RIDE!" - Shorty to Willie Scott.Best movie line from Indiana Jones & the Temple Of Doom

You know, in today's market they really weren't priced extravagantly.
What's the price point of the new carded SMDM's? That could be the ticket for Buck. Maybe it could be a tie-in with a long overdue heavily illustrated show-bible book or a SyFy channel re-running of the series - whatever it takes! LOL.

Sometimes a truly great product doesn't get the right distributor, and it dies. It's often a matter of getting the product to the buyer, and grabbing his/her attention.
From what I heard, Diamond is sitting on the BR licence mainly to...just have it, I guess...

                    Bummer.
It's probable that it's not a strong lisence as David Lee said, just sucks 'cause we're big fans!

I wouldn't be surprised if DST came out w/ a very limited run of the proposed ZICA's with a very high price point.

Thinking a new 3 3/4" scale line similar to Hasbro's recent GI Joe lines is in order:
Buck Rogers in NASA flight suit
Buck Rogers in Earth Defense Directorite uniform(with holster/removable gun & starfighter helmet)
                      Buck Rogers in dress uniform
Buck Rogers in Draconian guard uniform(with removable helmet)
                      Buck Rogers in casual attire
Wilma Deering in EDD uniform(with holster/removable gun & starfighter helmet)
Wilma Deering in dress uniform(hair down)
Wilma Deering in blue catsuit(hair down)
Wilma Deering in Searcher uniform(black hair)
                      Dr. Huer
                      Twiki(with detachable Dr. Theopolis)
                      Kane(Henry Silva likeness)
                      Kane(Michael Ansara likeness)
                      Draco
                      Princess Ardala
                      Tigerman
                      Draconian Guard(with holster/removable gun & removable helmet)
Duke Danton in EDD uniform(with holster/removable gun & starfighter helmet)
Gordon in EDD uniform(with holster/removable gun & starfighter helmet)
                      TINA the drone
                      Admirial Azimov(SP?)
                      Lt. Devlin
                      Dr. Goodfellow
