    BBP BSG Head rescaling

I wasn't too happy with the head size of the BBP BSG figures, so I shrank them using a non-acetone procedure which doesn't harm the head and retains the original paint job. I'm quite happy with the results. Below comparision pics of a regular Starbuck figure of the left and one with a reduced head on the right. I did Apollo and Adama as well, but IMO the Starbuck head was the biggest of all three.

Looks great! Can you share what the substance was that you used? I'm not familiar with the process. How does it work?

Way to go Georg! If it doesn't harm the paint job it's the answer we've been looking for!

Good grief, that's so much better. Hope you reveal the secret! I bet everyone who bought BSG and SMDM figures will be doing this for all of them.

Dude - clue us in. This is like a freakin miracle if it can work on 9-inch scale heads.

It's actually not a new discovery. I shared about this in the old forums a couple of years ago, when I shrank the entire line of 9" Playmates Star Trek heads. It also works great on masks, shoes and other stuff.
As far as the recipy goes, it's kind of tricky. I recovered it by accident experimenzing on things. Now the funny thing is that I'm using a no-name paint remover/cleaner I found in a craft store over here. Strange, it doesn't remove the paint.
I wouldn't recommend trying this procedure with a regular paint remover, as it will probably destoy the head.
If anyone should be interested, I could shrink the heads for you. I've done this before for a couple of members.

Now in regard to fitting the heads back on the body, that wasn't a problem with the BSG figures. The head plug still fits in the neck hole, just a little loser than before.

That can be fixed with masking tape.

well, it should say on the bottle the active ingredient and percentage somewhere.

Nope! The label just simply reads 'Paint Remover' in German (I'm in Germany) without any specific brand, adds a warning, that the stuff is toxic. 'Use only in ventilated rooms'.

Interesting. Does it leave behind any residual on the heads or a strong odor?

No residual on the heads. There's a strong smell for the first couple of days. That's why I place them outside for a few days and aso rinse them well several times.
