I'm very pleased to see Mugato being made like the original figure, because I'd like to have one but I'm not about to pay the hundreds it'd cost to get an original of that funky lookin' guy, lol. Honestly, I've been very pleased with everything I've seen so far that's come out and to-be-released from EMCE. Way to go, DocComment

As much as I like the prospect of future screen accurate Gorns, Mugato's, etc. These are reproductions of the classic Mego figures and they should preserve the original wonky designs as a testament to how toys were done back then. I am buying these because they are like the 70's toys (with all their beautiful warts)
The best would be a 2 pack with a screen accurate Gorn or Mugato coupled with the wonky Mego repro version. And if a later release of screen accurate versions came out after the faithful repro, I would buy both.
But make no mistake, I am glad that the wonky intergalactic Disco pimp Mugato will be reproed in all the 70's off model, flight of toy designer fancy glory and hope the other Aliens will be accurate to the 70's figures (with the hope also that accurate ones will come later)Comment

Wonky? Cool word, Mike. But I do agree w/ you. I'm glad these repros are being done in true 70s style, 'cos we all know that was the best time to be a kid, and the greatest time when we had that cool Mego goodness! I say, embrace the cheesiness! Let the Mugato be funky and wonky! That's what makes these figures fun! Share the memories w/ the kids of today. I know my kids (at least the ones I babysit), love classic Mego!

I couldn't have said it better Mike!!
You hit the nail right on the head.
I want all the first 14 origonal figures, then they can do what they want.

Of course the "wonkiness" of the originals is what made Mego so cool in the first place, but the perfectionist in me is screaming to make it screen accurate! if we were somehow assured a SA one was coming, I wouldn't care one way or another, but until one is announced, my mind is busy figuring out how to make a SA one!
Oh, and in case any of you are still scratching your heads to why the Mugato was chosen: http://cgi.ebay.com/Mego-Star-Trek-A...QQcmdZViewItemLast edited by LordMalvolio; Feb 10, '08, 12:48 PM.Comment

I agree. As a kid in the 70's Mugato and the Neptunian were my FAVORITE mego bad guys ( plus, in my child-mind the Mugato was a POTA superhero!) ...they battled the mego knights, heroes, whatever, you name it. And lets face it, they are both somewhat ridiculous. I think the super bright colors and tacky outfits made them SO different to the Trek guys you knew they were up to no good. But I loved (and still do) Star Trek Megos (had everyone but the romulan) and as a kid more or less loathed the TV show... so my opinion is probably null and void.Comment
