Well the fact Hot Toys has already promoted the release of the Burris Batmobile to fit 1/6th scale figures, one would think they have that scale prepped and ready to go. Cool!

Don't forget, Mattel showed a pic of a 6" Adam West Batman at Comic Con.

It's exciting news that there could finally be some good actor tie ins to the show. As for the 6 inch scale, companies get rights to do different sizes of action figures, which is why some are 12.1 inches or other odd sizes.

I think the problem for the 8 inch line would be the licensing fees would be so high, I can't see a small company like EMCE being able to come up with that kind of money.

My guess is we'll get some outstanding 1/6th scale from Hot Toys, all priced around $200-$225. How fast could we all **** away a grand?

They have to do 8 inch it just wouldn't be right if they didn't.

Don't hold your breath on that. I would expect nothing short of $275.00 to $300 minimum. Hot Toys has been hitting fans hard on the prices lately. And since this is a highly anticipated release, I fully expect the company to price it accordingly. Could be worse. They may make fans buy Batman and Robin as a combo and fork out $600.00 for the pair. I fully expect this to be ugly. The greed factor is going to be high on anyone who carries this stuff, so I won't be in any hurry to open my wallet right away. I'm hoping the market is oversold and saturation lowers prices on alot of product coming out.

If Mego scale does happen, I'd expect to see it thru Mattel. A retroaction Bat-line might get the DC line going again.

My thinking on the price was the Reeve Superman was around $200-$225, and that's where the new Avengers are, too. They'd sell a metric fck ton of Batman figures, which would help with the per unit cost. Batman TV would be a line with a lot of legs, so they can spread out the license cost. Having said that, they're still going to be a lot of money.

And then Paul would know far better than I do, but doesn't a company have to get rights from each actor to produce a figure?

^My understanding was WB worked out the likeness rights with many of the cast members, and Fox, and Greenway...etc. It's all in how the deal was made, but from the press release, a good chunk of the actors' likenesses were worked out in advance of any products being made.

Isn't there a TV Batman Hallmark ornament this year? I seem to recall seeing a picture of one but haven't seen it in any of the HM stores.

I wanted to be excited about this license, but a lot of factors are preparing me for disappointment. I mainly collect 1/6th scale figures so Hot Toys getting the license was disappointing. They do great figures but they do not go very far into lines and do characters I would really like to have. HT needs to tool a shorter body to work for Burt Ward/Robin and I wonder if they are willing to do that. Had they made Rorshach for the Watchman line they would have a body already that would work for Robin. If the Back to the Future rumors are true they almost have to make a shorter body for Marty so that would make Robin more likely. After Joker and/or Catwoman I don't see HT making any of the other characters. Another factor is Adam West. Our studio was working on the Adam West sculpt for the Zica 8 inch figure. By the time Adam's requested changes were approved on the sculpt we were asking that our name be taken off of any packaging and advertising. His vision of what he thought he looked like was somewhat different than what the reference indicated. If he gets to sign off on any portraits that are done of him people are going to be disappointed. Shatner is the same way. That's why you never see licensed product with an accurate likeness of him. I look forward to seeing what ever comes out as that show was, is and always will be one of my all time favorites. Any company that man-ups and does a figure of Egghead or King Tut will get my money no matter what scale it is in.
